Probably why of the later films, Aladdin remains my favorite.
This and Peter Pan are the Disney films that bring up the most nostalgia of my childhood.
They also remind me of why I became obsessed with cinema in the first place. My tastes to this day - being a natural extension of those two films.

01.03.2025 21:56 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0There was no time in cinema like the late 60s & early 70s. Hackman played a huge part in that. Films that changed the course of cinematic history. Now he’s up there making art with the other easy riders and raging bulls. Thank you is not enough…

Strange Darling rocks. I dig how it plays off our preconceived expectations and conventional genre tropes.
Saw The Apartment for the 50th time and it keeps getting better.
Recently finished and totally adore the Gentlemen series as well as Fallout. Feel better!
Thanks so much. I greatly appreciate both of your assistance.

I’m looking for as close as possible to the shooting script version. Thanks in advance.

Spent the weekend sick, but binged some great sci-fi episodic tv.
The Last of Us and Fallout back to back. Can’t ever complain about Pascal & Goggins on my tv screen.
Walton Goggins needs to be gifted the entire universe because the guy is the modern day Warren Oates.
Happy Screenwriters Day to all my fellow scribes! Your work inspires me tremendously and inspires others to chase their dreams.

Witness is soooooooo good. That’s on my best first watch list as well. It doesn’t get nearly enough recognition.

Just an epic and chaotic ending. Still, there is so much simplicity in the story. Maybe not the best of Hitchcock’s work, but definitely a deserving tentpole in the history of film.
Hope all is going fantastic with your latest and happy early new year!
Can’t wait to see what you’ve cooked up.
Charles Laughton is so good in this, playing a crooked justice of the peace with a perfect balance of pompous arrogance, bumbling idiocy, & discreet corruption. What a great nuanced caricature & perfect cover for his nefarious murder/smuggling operation.
They don’t make actors like this anymore.
Trying to increase purely visual storytelling, so I’ve been watching early Hitchcock.
Today… Jamaica Inn.
B&W Hitchcock is my latest obsession in terms of aesthetic. I love how he plots these thrillers and the characters are so memorable. Any recs?

I have a soft spot for all the 80s villains. I’m fully aware of the perceived inferiority of the sequels, but don’t regret watching any of them multitudes of times. They give me a bizarre sense of comfort. Like horror soul food!
Now jaws 3-D…
It depends on what is classified as horror nowadays.
I was 10 when I first saw horror comedies ie. Monster Squad & The Burbs. 11 when I saw The Birds and a bit more Hitchcock.
I was 13 for Jaws and the Nightmare & Friday films.
Somehow Ive never watched The Lady Vanishes. Changing that extra early this morning.
The 30s Hitchcock aesthetic of hotel/train thrillers is almost a genre into itself and fascinates me to no end. Wish they made more movies like them nowadays.

This is one of the great books about film. So much wisdom. Enjoy!

Writing & checking out some art from Lourdes Grobet for inspiration. How she subverts worlds blows me away.

Strange Darling absolutely had me. I yelled at the screen… so there’s that.

Peep my friend’s flick Gazer. A total passion project. Premiered at Cannes for the Directors’ Fortnight. Trailer in the article.
An ode to 70s cinema. An aesthetic to die for. Hope you all check it out when it’s finally released.
