Thanks so much!

You're right, forgot to update and will do so when I am back from collecting signatures. Thanks for flagging.

Oh, and I don't have Nazi tattoos or Nazi views.

As my website notes, I support universal healthcare, universal childcare, expanding social security, affordable housing, abolishing ice, immigration reform, and transitioning to clean energy.

I've been a public defender my whole career, first-gen college graduate, and I am running to help people.

I'll grant you the bio is on the short side and I don't have 100% of my platform up, but both do exist at www.votewelch.com. Will work on expanding it, but since I didnt decide to run until Suozzi's DHS vote, I am catching up on months of work and focusing on getting on the ballot right now.

03.03.2026 13:41 β€” πŸ‘ 4    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

Still true (though it is supposed to be a signature by signature challenge, I believe.)

You have to hire an attorney just to get on the ballot. Wild that more people don't run for office, truly.

Yup. Executive Orders aren’t law.

I hate that, but still commend your effort. A lot of people wouldn't have bothered.

Meanwhile, half the politicians think the problem is it's too easy to vote. πŸ˜’

That's so infuriating. I am sorry you have to deal with that and good on you for doing all the follow-up.

A very good system we have here.

Public pressure means something. Primaries can change policies. In NY-10, Dan Goldman has been running ads for months.
Primaried from his left by @bradlander.bsky.social, Goldman’s ads have gone from β€œAgents should have to carry ID” in January, to big bold graphics this month that say β€œAbolish ICE.”

So rude of public opinion to cut into his profits like that. Poor guy's only worth like 12 million dollars.

Hey, NY. It's primary season.

If you see folks with clipboards asking if you are a registered democrat, please stop and help them.

It takes appx. 1 minute to sign a ballot petition.

People want better candidates. We need 1000s of signatures to get on the ballot.

Sick of the collaborators? Sign.

Danielle Welch for Congress It isn't enough for Democrats to flip the House in 2026. We need leaders who will fight for us.

I'm primarying Suozzi (who votes this way because this is who he is, not because our district likes it. I think we can do better.)

Good morning!

Wouldn't it be fun to have a Democrat in NY-03?

Suozzi is an uninspiring centrist. He gives us nothing to believe in, and lately can't even manage "at least I'm not Donald Trump" right.

He failed on the DHS vote.

He's wrong on Iran.

We can and must do better.

This is truly vile behavior. Rep. Gill's hatred and ignorance is shameful.

Our Muslim neighbors contribute so much to our communities, including compassion and kindness that they are too often denied by others. They are humans who deserve dignity and respect. They belong. They matter.

this one fucked me up so much. guy turns his life around after a drug conviction, becomes a happy, beloved, pet rescuing houseboat dad who undersells his mechanic services so poor folks can afford them. ICE grabs him one day out of the hospital for heart problems which then kill him. horrifying

Quote from Eisenhower about the opportunity cost of war

"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children. The cost of one modern heavy bomber is this: a modern brick school in more than 30 cities. It is two electric power plants, each serving a town of 60,000 population. It is two fine, fully equipped hospitals. It is some 50 miles of concrete highway. We pay for a single fighter plane with a half million bushels of wheat. We pay for a single destroyer with new homes that could have housed more than 8,000 people. This, I repeat, is the best way of life to be found on the road. the world has been taking. This is not a way of life at all, in any true sense. Under the cloud of threatening war, it is humanity hanging from a cross of iron."
Address "The Chance for Peace" Delivered Before the American Society of Newspaper Editors, 4/16/53

Quote from Eisenhower about how stupid war is

"War is mankind's most tragic and stupid folly; to seek or advise its deliberate provocation is a black crime against all men. Though you follow the trade of the warrior, you do so in the spirit of Washington -- not of Genghis Khan. For Americans, only threat to our way of life justifies resort to conflict."

Quote from Eisenhower about there being no such thing as a preventive war.

"Possibly my hatred of war blinds me so that I cannot comprehend the arguments they adduce. But, in my opinion, there is no such thing as a preventive war. Although this suggestion is repeatedly made, none has yet explained how war prevents war. Worse than this, no one has been able to explain away the fact that war creates the conditions that beget war."
Remarks at Carnegie Institute, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, 10/19/50

We don't have any money for the average American or to improve our nation and its infrastructure, but we sure can we afford to spend staggeringly large sums of money killing people and destroying their country.

I've included some quotes from Eisenhower.
