I was on Twitter/X for nearly 15 years, having opened a "work" account during my first RA job as an MSc graduate. It feels strange to mothball that account, but being able to clearly follow other researchers here without the ads, irrelevant posts, & general bin-fire X has become is very refreshing!

Challenges for regulatory responses to ultra-processed foods - Nature Food The emergence of ultra-processed foods is closely connected to the commercialization of food systems. Limiting their unrestrained growth may be critical to improving human and planetary health.

I wrote a commentary in NF on regulatory responses to UPFs, rehearsing things I (and others) have been saying for some years - governments need to focus policy on companies as well as products - only higher level interventions will shape a healthier food system...

Healthy food costs more than double less healthy options, analysis says Low-income families are being priced out of being able to afford to eat healthily, a charity warns.

"The Food Foundation found that 1,000 calories of healthy food such as fruit and veg costs £8.80, compared to £4.30 for the equivalent amount of less healthy food, such as ready meals and processed meats."
