Sharing a little bit of wonder. Another image of a different nest of the smallest species of stingless bee in Latin America, the Narrow Stingless Bee (Tetragonisca angustula). This colony had built its nest in the foundation of a building.

Even stingless #bees can defend themselves by banding together when a #predator infiltrates the hive. This includes even the most common (and smallest) species of stingless bee in Latin America, the Narrow Stingless Bee (Tetragonisca angustula), which I photographed in #Brazil this past autumn.

We’re experiencing a time of tremendous pollinator decline. Farmers should have more of a say in how pests are managed on their lands, including increased opportunities to move away from pesticides that harm wildlife, soil, and humans: wwf.to/3PCRoyM.

Have you ever wondered how bumble bees survive the long, cold winter months? If so, check out this short web story I wrote for WWF on the subject. These critical pollinators are truly amazing animals. www.worldwildlife.org/stories/wher.... #bee #bumblebee #pollinator #insect
