Okay, this is quite outstanding from Bedford Council.

not quite: the new software + conventional hardware together can make an "inventive step" -- but to be "*inventive*" what is new that is taught or achieved has to relate to something more than what is excluded from "invention" (=== it has to be 'technical').

"has to be found in the non-program bits"

-- or in what the program bits acting on the non-program bits actually achieve

but: the difference in what they produce has to be more concrete than just information

The MoJ continues to be truly terrible for transparency and open data.

They haven’t commented for this article, but I will bet money that the reason turns out to be they want to licence the data out to a company that will then charge a *massive* markup on it, making it inaccessible to the public.

Mamdani: [direct to camera] Did you know you can check out board games at your local public library? 😊

So the often cursed Inshes roundabout (just up the road) isn't down to his vengeful spirit after all then ?

... assuming statistical independence between the 4 interceptors.

But failure modes are often *not* statistically independent : if something has caused one interceptor to miss, the same thing may make another interceptor more likely to miss

The audience the ad was broadcast to was in the US, so US law is the relevant law here. Lex loci protectionis.

I do still think though that the old design was much more human-welcoming, even if it had less functionality and even if there may have been a handful of places it had problems with.

Would it not be possible to retain both designs, with a prominent link on each page to go to see the other view?

Thanks. I've updated Wikidata's link formatter, so the current 12,270 links from wikidata statements like www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q224580... should switch over to the new URLs in the next 24 to 48 hours.

@englishplacenames.bsky.social Has the user-friendly version of the survey fallen off the internet?

The pages like epns.nottingham.ac.uk/browse/id/53... no longer seem to be accessible

The alternative sepn.nottingham.ac.uk/view-only/da... works, but is a lot less welcoming

Reposted with alt text. Also, from a cursory look, this appears to basically be true, which is pretty funny. Philosophers... debate.

Not helping, that even when there is/was a Canmore summary, they don't show it on the default visible tab -- so when you first look at the page, there's usually *nothing* to tell you about what the item represents

This frontispiece in my book just made me laugh a lot. Is this Buddhist reincarnation, or some other form of afterlife?

@natlibscot.bsky.social The link-checker on the WikiTree genealogy site is giving me a lot of HTTP 405 "method not allowed" errors for links to pages from your trade directories on NLS digital.
(eg: plus.wikitree.com/function/WTS... )

Any idea why this is? The links seem to work fine for humans.

Bum the Dog Statue – Edinburgh’s Tribute to San Diego’s Most Beloved Stray Stroll through the western end of Princes Street Gardens, near the King’s Stables Road entrance, and you might notice something small and easy to miss among the trees β€” a bronze dog resting quietly on...
