IDK if people are talking about Kai Cenat's public reading journey, but he's using his power for good.
A lot of people can't read. At least not at what we consider adequate levels. And it is not their fault. Society as a whole severely pulled away from literacy advocacy.

Walked around the block. All the local dogs and cats are sitting on their front stoops for the first time since November. Didn't get any pictures of them but here's a folk horror snowman

08.03.2026 16:36 — 👍 4 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I'll defend the aesthetic, legal, and political importance of porn, and criticizing porn for not doing what literature does (I mean literature in the broadest sense, from Anna Karenina to a Star Wars comic) is going to make you miserable and, if you're not careful, reactionary.
08.03.2026 16:01 — 👍 31 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0This becomes a lot more bearable if you realize the article is about romance (the genre) and you accept that romance (the genre) is just porn. Those books are pornos, so of course people are fussy and particular about them. It's 2026, no one just throws on "a porno"; they want what they want.

Picard: It's a computer simulation of thoroughbred horse racing called Umamusume Pretty Derby. The program was quite popular in the 21st century.
Riker: Mm. 'Pretty' is accurate. That Goldship is quite something.
Picard: I hadn't noticed. I enjoy the simulation's tactical qualities.
Riker: Yes, sir.
Of course, TopatoCo (which sells webcomic t-shirts, and Saint Homunculus t-shirts in the World of Darkness) is still around (it operates out of Easthampton) and newspapers are all dead.
08.03.2026 14:31 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0I should point out that this comes from a lot of newspaper comics' attitudes toward webcomics when they first showed up: "They're not selling comics, they're selling t-shirts!"

08.03.2026 13:38 — 👍 39 🔁 11 💬 1 📌 0I think "this came out of nowhere" is a bad take. It's stupid but complicated.
