An original artwork of a barn owl, created using watercolour paints on paper.
According to Aesop's fables, a scholarly owl, prideful in his deep but dry study, argues with the melodious Nightingale, who defends natural beauty and true enjoyment, highlighting the difference between mere knowledge and wisdom.
Art my own.

I need a mood booster, let's talk about capybaras.
Here's a capy demonstrating one of MANY ways they can move through the water: running along the bottom.
They're 'semi-aquatic' mammals, just like hippos, seals & beavers. They LOVE water.

The Rabbit on the Moon
Different cultures around the world have found one or more rabbits hidden in the dark spots of the lunarscape since ancient times … click on title for more
They were hunted by the Mexica (Aztecs) for food, who also honored them as life-sustaining & symbols of fertility.
Every time I look at the moon, I'll be seeing the teporingo who got there before us.

They use wide paws to swim rapidly. A water-resistant coat traps insulating air.
They shove their nose into flooded spaces, blow a bubble out their snout & by this method can SMELL UNDERWATER for prey, making them the only mole that can hunt in lakes & streams.

🌳 This is not a painting — it’s the view from beneath an ancient pedunculate oak. It is over 400 years old.
When you gaze upward, the interwoven branches create a soaring hall of light and vitality — nature’s own grand masterpiece.

An original one of a kind watercolour artwork of a wren, soon to be available from my shop.
In Celtic folklore, the wren is known as a "king of the birds". It represents the old year where its symbolic capture on St. Stephen's Day cleansed the community for the new year. In a Christian-influenced tale, the wren is portrayed as betraying St Stephen and bringing misfortune.

a small axolotl is walking on a piece of paper .
Alt: a small pink axolotl is smiling at the camera and forcing water over feathery gills in a way that looks like they're smiling with their whole body.
What's not to love about an axolotl (Ambystoma mexicanum)?
They've got feathery gills, tiny amphibian bodies & happy little faces 😀.
But did you know they're masters of regeneration? Let's talk about why *being cute* and *growing back severed limbs* are, in fact, related.

An abstract watercolour sketch of a blue tit sitting on a branch. Created using watercolour paints on paper.
"Little Billy Biter" is a traditional colloquial nickname for the blue tit (Cyanistes caeruleus), particularly used in the South West of England. This name is not based on extensive folklore, but rather on the bird's specific defensive behaviour.
Today's watercolour sketch.
