I’m also delighted to hear that the war is already won. Hope Don’s got his “Mission Accomplished” banner up.

“You’ve had some right cowboys in ‘ere, love. Headless ones by the look of it. I’ll do me best, but I’ve got a big job on over at Borley Rectory.”

I can’t tell you how often it comes up on the doorstep.

Although if you want to return to the 50s, then Britain staging a coup in Iran is on brand.

If she could reveal the plan and the endgame, there’s a lot of people that would value that insight. A number of them running the war.

Mind you. Could just be drill practice for the US 250 celebrations in the summer.

I tend to agree that it is either nothing or just in case they need to deploy them in a security role somewhere. There simply isn’t the infrastructure in place to support other than the most peripheral offensive ground action.

Don’t the Marines usually reinforce security at embassy sites?

I argued for arming the pedal swans on the lake in Cannon Hill Park, but would they listen to me?

Yes, almost certainly. There is a chunk of the electorate that wants to vote for ‘none of the above’. For a while that was the LDs, then came coalition. Then there have been various flavours of UKIP, BXP and Reform. Now we also have the Greens.

Not specifying that, but if it were to occur, then that’s the response.

If an aircraft were to threaten Irish airspace, there is an established protocol that the RAF would respond to any request for assistance.

This is definitely something and will confirm your thoughts one way or another on a number of things.

I assume the secret ingredient in this ‘maxxing out’ now allows everything up to and including a war crime.

Not a bad thought. One for the Standards committee. Our concern was for our members

There's also a story there about the threats made against staff in constituency offices.

Maybe even the work that we do to help people.

It isn't the West Wing and only sometimes the Thick of It There's a lot of potholes and bins, but I know that our work has changed lives. Even saved some.

You can read the Standards Committee report here committees.parliament.uk/publications...

and see the (brief) Commons exchange here, with Tories Alberto Costa and Jesse Norman recognising the concerns of staff. Again, we are grateful for their support and for the backing of all MPs.

It isn't a Labour plot - it has cross-party support. For info, @gmbmembersstaff.bsky.social is a non-party political branch. We have members from a range of parties.

It isn't even a plot by MPs. They wanted to go further, but they listened to the concerns of their staff, for which we are grateful.

Juat a reminder to journalists that the changes to the Register of Interests that will bring another 2000 members of staff into recording their interests have cross-party support.

We understand the need for sunlight, but this is about deciding how to reconcile transparency and safety of employees

Nigel Farage is not working in the interests of the United Kingdom, let alone the people of Clacton.

Indeed. Ireland relies on the Royal Air Force for air defence.

All those people who wanted Britain to take back control just wanted to hand it to the US

Tell me how we balance the security interests of thousands of constituency colleagues who were really worried and had experience of poor behaviour and intimidation from constituents with this?
