Not at all. I’m literally taking the first steps without the knowledge or experience to have a solution pre-ordained.

I’m looking for solutions. Everyone has thrown their hands up and said there’s nothing we can do.

I want to solve problems that exist today regardless of root causes. There are many battles to wage and they are not mutually exclusive or exist on the same timeline. Doing one does not preclude any others.

In one sense yes. But fundamentally I want to get three properties that are slowly deteriorating back into use. And property sales have decimated local rental options so we need workforce housing.

It’s the general question, if the town gets needed workforce housing, is TIF utilization a good trade off. We don’t get the tax dollars now as the properties are assessed at very limited value.

What about using TIF as the carrot to get owners to develop vacant property that is badly needed for workforce housing?

In my small town we have three properties in a two block radius that sit vacant. They are in a current TIF district. They lack the required parking for development.

Scott Bessent, treasury nominee has said he will focus on tax cuts and tariffs both of which have empirical evidence showing that they do not benefit the economy and certainly not the vast majority of the people. It is never about what is best for everyone. It is what is best for those in power.

Getting the new puppy to poop in the rain has been an ordeal but we need the rain, so all is good.

Up here in Maine thankful that I have a good community for my kid to grow up with. I was never on Twitter so I don’t have the nostalgic feels that many here are experiencing. But I’ve followed a few interesting people, blocked and muted some political names to keep this space an angst free space.
