27.11.2024 23:22 β π 6 π 1 π¬ 1 π 1I bet that is something they will be prioritizing going forward. They will lean towards experienced prospects who have high end football IQ/character (the multi-yr captain types)
21.11.2024 00:10 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0One key factor is the type of players they bring in
2 hallmarks of the 2024 draft class was experience & football character
Each of the picks were at minimum 4 year college players & they all had stand out football character
Between pending FAs & an increasing aging/ballooning roster the 49ers are gonna have to fill a lot of spots in the offseason
Currently slated to have 10 draft picks & I suspect they will all of them (if not close to) plus they're gonna have to be aggressive in UDFA
DL, LB & OT would be my 3 biggest priorities going into the offseason
They have thrown bodies at LB position & depending on his return they do have the ability to re-sign Greenlaw
With DL they have the star (Bosa), depth/rotation players but they need another high end rusher
OT is depth/future
But because Hargrave is out for the season & things never worked out with Drake Jackson & others they are forced to play/depend on them more than they should
I suspect a major priority in the offseason will be addressing the DL but guys like Anderson & Okuayinonu will be a part of the rotation
So in regards to the DL it's my belief that the group hasn't underachieved but that it's incomplete
If Hargrave was healthy or if they had a true bookend opposite Bosa that the rest of the group would be better slotted
Collins ideally your 2nd or 3rd best IDL, Floyd is ideally EDGE3
Very fair point
Jed has really matured during his tenure and now has the right kind of perspective for the role
Kyle is making Jed & his family way too much money right now to even consider making a move along with bringing a stabilizing force to the organization
20.11.2024 00:56 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0They are in the process of remaking the roster now
14 of the 23 players on defense that have played 10% or more of the defensive snaps are new or have less than 2 years of experience
They drafted 2 WRs, tried to rebuild the IOL & drafted a RB to pair longterm with McCaffrey
A length of the a contending window is largely dependent on how good a team is at replenishing its roster
People forget that only 8 players for 49ers played in both SBs against KC. That means that Lynch/Shanahan did a great job of remaking the team in less than 5 yrs
Some years you are the beneficiary of that luck, other years you aren't. It doesn't feel like their year. Its on them to rebound from that
19.11.2024 23:47 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It gives me a headache when people talk out of both sides of their mouths, they acknowledge how hard it is to a win a SB yet hold Kyle to this impossible standard
It fucking sucks that they haven't won a title, we all feel but we can't lose sight of how hard it is to get there
We have seen it with Kyle
During his time in SF the team has endured the lowest of lows (on & off the field) and (nearly) the highest of highs and everything in between and has never changed or lost the locker room
Of course I remember, very happy to be talking with you again
We don't even know what Ben Johnson is or isn't. We also don't know if he wants to be a HC right now. What happens when he is responsible for an entire operation? When he doesn't have a Dan Campbell to build the culture of a team
In other words
Kyle Shanahan isn't going anywhere & while he has flaws we should be lucky to have him instead of keeping to stretch for a HC of his caliber
I say all that in order to point to the fact that when you have a good to great HC you keep them and you view their time in totality and not just base decisions on a singular stretch of games
19.11.2024 23:00 β π 8 π 1 π¬ 2 π 0Clearly winning a SB grants you a certain level of leeway & time but its not always the greatest indicator of how good a HC is or their ability to recreate the same level of success that got that to the title
