saying that trump is giving β€œconflicting signals” here really, really sanewashes how completely incoherent this is, but everyone’s looking for the barest shred of something to hold onto rather than admit the obvious

Trump says US Navy sank Iran's warship off the coast of Sri Lanka because "it's more fun" to sink ships than capture them.

How are calls between two government leaders allowed to be β€˜mysterious’? Shouldn’t we know what agreements are being made?

Is that as good as, say, having no one in charge of a country’s government?

for me β€œdoom scrolling” is actually just the pathological hunt for the first piece of news that indicates this whole unbearable moment is about to unravel

If just ONE reporter with direct access to him would ask, "Do you think it's pretty ironic for a 5 time draft dodger to talk about drafting people for your war?", I would personally start their GoFundMe for when they're fired 5 minutes later. πŸ‘ŠπŸΌ

It is absolutely insane that the US appears to have targeted desalination plants first – putting them onto the board. Iran seems to have already retaliated against one in Bahrain. This is one of the most obvious ways this could spiral.

The earlier, thin books were good - had plots and everything. β€œThe Door Into Summer” was one of my favorites. But like most mid-century sci-fi the portrayal of women was weak and caricature-like
