Collection of interesting, hilarious, and/or obscene street art that I’ve encountered (but not personally created), along with occasional photos of soccer fan culture, animals, nature’s beauty, and other random stuff. Also, new home for old intsa posts.

Thanks. Called Justice dept and she hasn’t been booked by the Feds, at least not yet, and called a few of the most immediate hospitals too. Still MIA.

Do you know how many people got arrested/detained today? And do you know if there’s any way to find out who was? My wife went down there this afternoon. Can’t imagine she’d have gotten close enough to get snatched, but she’s MIA and I’m starting to get worried.

Took a break from bsky, got married, other life stuffs. Was out walking the neighborhood and found a bunch of great new stickers recently. New posts soon, but TBH, I might have to cut back on alt-text a bit, that was taking a lot more work that I need to be dealing with at the moment.

Some stickers affixed to the side of a USPS mailbox. The larger sticker is a combination of a rose and a tooth, with the upper part being a fully blossomed rose and the lower part being the roots of a tooth. The exterior of the tooth is a light blue, and the insides of the blossomed rose petals are a darker blue, but it is still lighter than the dark blue used for USPS mailboxes. This color scheme has 3 complimentary blue colors that scale from light to dark from the perspective of the the lightest blue in the foreground, and the darkest being the background. Above it is a small yellow sun sticker. It is comprised of dark lines against a yellow background. The dark lines are a ring of triangles pointing out to represent the sun’s rays, and in the center is a dark crescent along the lower half. This crescent gives it a slight three dimensional perspective to represent its spherical nature. Artist(s) of both stickers unknown. Found in the Irvington neighborhood of Portland, Oregon on May 28th, 2019.

Sign outside of the Lone Fir Cemetery in Portland, OR. The sign reads:

—————

WIPE YOUR FEET!
Are you giving ghosts a free ride?

When you walk over their graves, the ghosts who reside there can cling to your shoes, then come off later and haunt where they are unwanted.

Help protect this fragile boundary between the land of the living and the spirits of the dead - don't accidentally introduce invasive ghosts.

PLEASE USE GHOST BRUSH BEFORE LEAVING THE CEMETERY

Thank you,

Sticker affixed to a natural gas meter. Sticker is on a cartoonish dog face that is yellow with a conical hat, a smiley face, and it’s tongue sticking out off to it’s left side of it’s face. The hat is reminiscent of Van Gough’s Starry Night, with a big swirl in the sky, only it is above a yellow field (which is the dog’s face), and green rolling hills in the background. The colors are filled in with large brushstrokes similar to Starry Night. Artist unknown. Found in the Kerns neighborhood of Portland, OR on May 1st, 2025.

Two small stickers affixed to a crosswalk button housing. They are two variations of the same dog in a party hat featured in the first photo. Both feature the same basic design, yellow faced dog with a smiley face, it’s tongue sticking out on left side of face, and a green conical party hat. Each sticker has a slightly different design on the color fill. The one on the left looks like it was filled in with color magic markers. On the one of the left, the face seems to be made of a yellow lemon, and it’s hat is a green pile of something that looks kind of like yarn or a lumpy extruded material such as foam insulation. Artist unknown. Found in the Kerns neighborhood of Portland, OR on May 1st, 2025.

The “Balloons” piece is on particular childhood nostalgia for me. This is a vintage Bill Ding Stacking Clown. They’re a building toy that was first produced in the 1930s. My dad had some of this from his childhood in the 1950s, and my siblings and I used to play with them at my grandparents house.

Small plant of wood affixed to a telephone pole. On the light blue colored plank is a person/creature. At the bottom it says “Thomas Jr.” with period on Jr. being comprised of one of the two dots of a smiley face :). They are comprised of the tips of paint brushes for legs, a triangular red piece of felt for a dress/shirt, corn cob holders stick into the wood and protruding out at an angle with the tips painted blank for arms, and a clump of matted hair for a hair with googly eyes and a red line for it’s face. The hair is long and curled over their face, partially obscuring it. Given the amount of hair and no actual head visible, they could be some kind of Bigfoot like creature, or a Cousin It (a la Addam’s Family). Found on SE Ankeny st in the Laurelhurst neighborhood of Portland, OR on April 26th, 2025. Artist unknown.

A plank of wood affixed to a telephone pole that looks like a face. At the bottom of the plank is a faintly written “Mustachio”. The face is comprised of a small carabiner being held in place with some screws, a frowning pink line for a mouth, a faded thick dark line for an mustache, a corn cob holder stuck in the board and pointed at a downward angle for a nose, the right eye is made from a large metal washer, several screws, and a metal nut for an eye, the left eye was likely the same but is now missing completely and only a faint circle and screw hole remains, dark downturned eyebrows expressing anger, and finally attached to the top if a long and narrow dark brown piece of wood that makes a hat or hair. It is almost entirely hidden by tree branches and leaves, and mostly faded. Found on SE Ankeny st in the Laurelhurst neighborhood of Portland, OR on April 26th, 2025. Artist unknown.

Suspect decisions from MLS referees are as American as apple pie at this point, however this season in particular just seems really bad. TBF, my opinion may be a bit biased as a Timbers fan (as we’ve been on the losing end of a lot of really bad calls), but in general it seems like an uptick for all

But, I don’t follow the league, and haven’t played the sport since I was a wee little lad, so I’m definitely not a reliable source in this regard.

I may be grossly misinformed, but I was told years ago that Portland is basically just a bargaining chip whenever a team wants to go somewhere else or extract more concessions from their current city. “If you don’t give us a deal, we’ll go to Portland”. And teams never really a serious plan to come.

Sticker found in a bus stop today (April 19th, 2025) in the Kerns neighborhood of Portland, OR. Sticker says “And those same leopards will eat your face”. This is a reference to a tweet during the administration of the 45th US president, which was mocking regretful voters who were sad the guy they voted for did the exact (awful) things he said he would, that they dismissed as hyperbole during the election. “‘I never thought the leopards would eat my face’ sobs women who voted for the Leopards Eating People’s Faces Party”. https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/leopards-eating-peoples-faces-party
