I’m the Chair of the Traditional Ecological Knowledge Section of the Ecological Society of America and the Chair of the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee for the American Society of Plant Biologists.

As an ecophysiologist, I study the impacts of climate change, introduced species, and fire on ecosystem health. Mostly forests, but I keep my interests broad.

Excited to announce that I’ve been selected to be a Chapter Lead for the first-ever U.S. National Nature Assessment! Together we will create a broad and holistic understanding of nature to inform decision making and planning.

How many pieces of chocolate did it take to get through the term? 100! I always have chocolate available for student drop-in hours. I pass them out to faculty too. I ate the last of the variety pack on Wednesday after we wrapped up Intro to Forest Ecology @ubcforestry
