This Webb MIRI image of the spiral galaxy NGC 5068 highlights the glowing bubbles of dust and newborn star clusters. The barred spiral galaxy is located about 17 million light-years from Earth in the constellation Virgo.

The Webb telescope captured details of HH 797, an object located near IC 348 that was formed by the collision of jets from newborn stars with gas and dust. The two protostars in the top image were taken by NIRCam.

The Webb telescope captured images of quasars and galaxy mergers billions of light years away, revealing the formation of galaxies, the growth of black holes and their chemical properties, and promoting the study of the history of the universe.

The new images are larger, cover a wider area, have better contrast, and provide a clearer view.

The Eagle Nebula (M16/NGC 6611) is a famous deep-sky object located in the constellation Serpens, 7,000 light-years from Earth. It is a star-forming region in the Milky Way. In 1995, the "Pillars of Creation" photographed by the Hubble Telescope was part of it.
