I remember reading that Eliza asked Billy what the song was about, and he answered that he had no idea!
The Festival is first weekend in Sept, mainly local bands with a few better known artists- it's quite a coup to book Eliza. She's on Sat night, so hoping to see some of the free sessions as well.

We've seen both Eliza and Martin many times since, but that is a treasured memory.

We used to go quite often, must get back into checking their programme. Might wait a bit to go to the castle - I see there's a TV documentary coming up about it. And footy ... YAY!q

I count myself lucky to have seen Norma perform with Waterson-Carthy, not long after we first became interested in folk - the first band being Eliza and the Ratcatchers.

I keep thinking of a photo I saw of an asylum seeker playing on a table football game in a hotel - cue seething outrage, "holiday camp" comments, etc! I'm sure many people would like to see them rounded up and put in concentration camps before deportation ASAP.

They really are ! They're fantastic live - saw them in 2021 and last year after a long absence from touring, still brilliant. So many great songs on their albums, Justin Currie is such a good songwriter.
