On this day in 1971, Bangladesh triumphed after 9 months of a grueling liberation war. Let us honor the sacrifices of our martyrs by upholding the ideals they fought for. If our freedoms, including religious freedom, are ever threatened, may we defend them with the same gallantry and resolve.

Let the history be known to all so there is no repeat of such again in the future. Let the people know who were responsible and hold them accountable. Let there be recognition and justice.

On this day of 14th December, 2024, we remember and pay deepest respect to the intellectuals of our nation who were martyred by the Pakistani invaders and their collaborators, the traitors of our nation- Razakar, Al Badr, Al Shams.

We remember the losses they have caused. And we shall overcome.

Regardless of how gloomy the situation may seem, it's important to stay optimistic. Falling into the clutches of doomerism can hinder our ability to fight for progress.

Secularism ensures that one religious group does not get more privileges than another. The constitution must give equal rights to ALL religious groups, because people from all groups gave their lives for the freedom of this nation, and this country belongs to all religious groups equally.

Prior to our independence, the Pakistani government disparaged Bengali culture by calling it Hindu culture and tried to break our cultural identity. If secularism is removed from the constitution, which is the basis of all law, it gives fundamentalists more leverage to sow division among people.

The recent discussion to remove secularism from Bangladesh's constitution by the likes of Attorney General Md. Asaduzzaman has been worrying. Secularism was one of the driving factors in the independence of Bangladesh, and it being removed from the constitution could be disastrous for the nation.

Mourning the death of Advocate Saiful Islam Alif, who himself promoted religious coexistence in Bangladesh.

A post on terrorism by Derril Audri Roy that says "A devotee can bring more shame to their God than a nonbeliever. Killing in the name of God makes on a terrorist regardless of the faith.

We condemn any and all forms of violence caused by religion and religious beliefs. No form of extremism shall be tolerated, be it Islamist, or Hindutva.

এই বৈষম্যের প্রায়শ্চিত্ত জাতিকে অবশ্যই করতে হবে। নারীদের প্রতি এমন অবিচারের কথা ইতিহাস কখনই ভুলবে না।

It’s disheartening to see women's significant role in the student movement that ousted Sheikh Hasina being downplayed. Despite their major contributions, they have been completely sidelined in its aftermath. We must take a stand against the repudiation of women's involvement in the movement.

মওলানার কাছে রাজনীতি মোটেই দাবা খেলা ছিল না। কোন খেলাই ছিল না। দাবাড়ু নন তিনি, তিনি আন্দোলনকারী; রাজনীতি তাঁর কাছে, যেমন দেশের কৃষক-শ্রমিকের কাছে বাঁচা-মরার সংগ্রাম। হাসি ফোটাতে চেয়েছিলেন তিনি মানুষের মুখে, সেই জন্যই তো প্রকাশ্যে, অমন করে কেঁদেছিলেন সেদিন। তাঁর রাজনীতির অবস্থান নয় বড়লোকদের, নবাব, নাইট, উকিল-ব্যারিস্টারদের বসবার ঘরে। সে রাজনীতি অবস্থান করে মাঠে, রাজপথে, মিছিলে, ঘেরাওয়ে। [5/6]

ইস্পাহানী লিখেছেন, মওলানার গভীর আন্তরিকতা আমাকে অভিভূত করলো, আমার পক্ষে কঠিন হয়ে উঠলো অশ্রু সম্বরণ করা। পরে, ডিনারের আগে, মওলানার কথা তুললাম আমি কায়েদ আজমের কাছে’ , ইস্পাহানী প্রশংসা করছিলেন মওলানার। জিন্নাহ সাহেব কিন্তু বললেন ভিন্ন কথা, বললেন মওলানার মতো লোকেরা নেতা হওয়ার যোগ্য নয় মোটেই। [3/6]

১৯৪৬ সালে জিন্নাহ সাহেব আসামে এসেছিলেন। সিলেট এসে মওলানা ভাসানী দেখা করেন তাঁর সঙ্গে। মওলানা তখন আসাম প্রাদেশিক মুসলিম লীগের সভাপতি। আসামের মুসলমানদের পক্ষ থেকে পাকিস্তান আন্দোলনের প্রতি পূর্ণ সমর্থনের আশ্বাস দিলেন তিনি, সেই সঙ্গে বর্ণনা দিলেন মুসলমানদের প্রতি অকথ্য অত্যাচারের। বলতে বলতে এক পর্যায়ে সুতীব্র বেদনায় মওলানা কেঁদেই ফেললেন, সকলের সামনে। [2/6]

A genuinely secular party would not go back on its values. None of us should have to support a party that fakes secularism. We in Secular Bangladesh denounce BAL for its barbaric actions against the people of Bangladesh, and support the student movement that ousted the fascist dictator Hasina. [4/4]

BAL for the most part, is a pseudo-secular party. If being secular was not an advantage for them, they would never try to be so. And they have always neglected their so called values whenever situation was not in favor of acting on said values. [3/4]
