As a hunter, angler, and someone who cares deeply about our nation's incomparable system of public lands and wildlife habitat, I cannot support the reckless destruction of the Arctic Tundra and the Coastal Plain.

That’s why I’m leading the fight to stop any return to explosive testing and to finally deliver justice and recognition for New Mexico’s Downwinders. We can protect our national security without putting Americans at risk.

I’ll never forget the stories I’ve heard from families in southern New Mexico who still carry the pain of the Trinity Test. For 80 years, our communities have paid the price of nuclear testing with sickness, loss, and silence.

As a representative of a district on the southern border with a majority Hispanic population, I am using my expertise to lead Congress toward the commonsense, pro-safety immigration solutions our country desperately needs.

Judges order Trump administration to use emergency reserves for SNAP payments during the shutdown Two federal judge have ruled that the Trump administration must continue to fund the SNAP food aid program using emergency reserve funds during the government shutdown.

A federal court confirmed what we already knew — the administration is breaking the law by refusing to fund SNAP. That decision is hurting working families across New Mexico. There’s no excuse for letting our kids go hungry while $5 billion sits unused.

The protection of this place, its Porcupine caribou herd, and most importantly, the Gwich’in people, has always been historically bipartisan. This is foolish. The Arctic Refuge should not be for sale to the highest bidder.

DOI’s decision to open the Coastal Plain of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge for oil and gas drilling is, at best, misguided and, at worst, catastrophic.
