I am pleased to announce that everyone from Franche-Comté is, as it turns out, a vampire.

Clad in rubberized suits and incorruptible armor, the miles iubari of the Duchy of Burgundy are the first line of defense against the horrors of the Black Grail in Southern France. Their military order has its roots in the legions of physicians attending to the good duke, following his early losses against fallen Avignon and his subsequent fall to one of its plagues. The tireless efforts of these doctors over the years lead them to foray many times deep into these lost territories, and while they never found a cure they still work to further their understanding of the diseases that claimed their liege lord. A combination of combat drugs, rebreathers and radium batteries allows them to operate for several days around Avignon. Their lead-lined and gold plated suits of armor taking the brunt of the corrosive miasma, while displaying the wealth of the richest duchy in Christendom. Their signature weapon is the fulgurant, a stout partisan channeling electricity through their foes' twisted bodies, putting an end to their life like a cloven tongue of fire. The drugs, isolation and their single mindedness in the pursuit of knowledge often turns knight radiants into huge bummers at the pub, which thankfully is not much of a problem as they rarely make old bones.
