Todayโ€™s dispatch from the front lines. Stay safe out there, Comrades.

Iโ€™m confused. Hasnโ€™t he been pretty good against lefties for a good long while nowโ€”basically since his bad start?

06.10.2025 22:56 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

โ€œClass, remember we talked about Pizzagate last week? This was similar except instead of a deranged incel with an AR-15, the Governor of Texas sent the National Guard to invade Oregon.โ€

06.10.2025 14:05 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 9    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Future historians are going to have a hell of a time explaining that time Texas tried to invade Oregon because Texas believed an internet hoax.

06.10.2025 13:27 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 26    ๐Ÿ” 2    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Trump is either lying repeatedly and shamelessly to justify an attempt to militarily occupy an American city or heโ€™s completely lost touch with reality. It seems like a worthwhile journalistic endeavor to figure out which and inform the American people.

Just cooked to perfection. ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿณ๐Ÿ’‹ #BAONPDX

They Livโ€™d, it turns out.

This Thorns team isnโ€™t great. Theyโ€™re plugging holes with duct tape and bubble gum. But theyโ€™ve got two bona fide match winners in Moultrie and Coffey, and theyโ€™re bought in from top to bottom.

A legit accomplishment to be in the playoff hunt. #BAONPDX

05.10.2025 04:44 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 35    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

A red card challenge from a Sounder and ten sets of shrugged shoulders from Fernandezโ€™s teammates. Absolutely brutal. #RCTID

05.10.2025 04:36 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 23    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 3    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Man. Nobody on the Timbers reacting to that really bad tackle from Rusnak is not good. Theyโ€™ve quit. #RCTID

05.10.2025 04:34 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 31    ๐Ÿ” 1    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 4    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Itโ€™s Liv or die for the Thorns attack right now. Genuinely impressive that theyโ€™ve made it this far given the plague of injuries, but I think the camelโ€™s back is officially broken. #BAONPDX

05.10.2025 02:48 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 16    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 3    ๐Ÿ“Œ 1

Yeah honestly I wasnโ€™t going to say anything because of the omen, but itโ€™s basically the same outfit.

05.10.2025 02:40 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Extreme Sonny Corleone vibes from Rob Gale tonight. #BAONPDX

Model journalism that exposes the lies the Trump Administration is using as pretext to occupy PDX.

Iโ€™ve been so impressed by Portlandersโ€™ response to date. Firm, unequivocal, and characteristically whimsical without giving in to Trumpโ€™s desire to manufacture violence. Keep it up and weโ€™ll win this.

04.10.2025 16:25 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 17    ๐Ÿ” 3    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Let me see if I have this right.

During a government shutdown, the administration can find the money to fly multiple helicopters and airplanes over the locus of Trumpโ€™s lies about Portland but not to hit โ€œSendโ€ on the already prepared monthly jobs report?

04.10.2025 02:59 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 21    ๐Ÿ” 2    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

The overwhelming majority of people donโ€™t have direct personal knowledge about most things he talks aboutโ€”including his lies about Portland. And the experience of having that personal knowledge about this particular lie but seeing it nonetheless cast into the world has been eye-opening.

02.10.2025 15:01 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 14    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Trumpโ€™s lies about Portland have really driven home that the information environment is even worse that I thought. Trumpโ€™s lies are just thatโ€”pure fantasy. Theyโ€™re not misleading or exaggerated or anything like that. Yet his tweets are still just neutrally reported like โ€œThis is a thing he said.โ€

Surely somebody out there can make a Portland pun based on E.B. Sledge.

If youโ€™re an aspiring filmmaker in Portland itโ€™s your civic duty to make a Ken Burns-style documentary about the heroism and sacrifice of Trumpโ€™s invasion.

Mocking them exposes the abuses while depriving them the pretext they want to attack our city.

Fortunately social media gives us a perfect platform to craft a third way: Using mockery as protest.

Every Portlander should flood their chosen social media platform with โ€œDispatches from the Front Linesโ€โ€”photos and videos of them going about their lives in this beautiful city.

28.09.2025 15:20 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 10    ๐Ÿ” 1    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

I agree with the sentiment here.

Trumpโ€™s invasion of Portland creates a paradox: Justifiably protest these nakedly authoritarian abuses and give the administration the pretext they want for state violence or stay silent and lend a patina of normalcy to Trumpโ€™s fouling of our democracy?

28.09.2025 15:20 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 13    ๐Ÿ” 1    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Things Portland is currently ravaged by:

Pizza
Temperate, sunny weather
Coffee
Middling soccer
Sunsets
Farmerโ€™s markets
Apples
Hiking trails
Thai food
Fresh hops
Harvest-ready vineyards

Things Portland is not ravaged by:

War

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

We need to be honest about what this is. Itโ€™s a transparent attempt to use the military to incite protests that the administration will then use state violence against.

Portland is not โ€œwar ravagedโ€ or anything remotely close to it. And those who repeat this lie without correcting it are complicit.

27.09.2025 15:09 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 56    ๐Ÿ” 18    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Injuries happen and theyโ€™re most often just bad luck. But this swarm of them has been so extreme that I think the Thorns need to at least consider if thereโ€™s some causal factor within their control there. #BAONPDX

25.09.2025 21:38 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 19    ๐Ÿ” 1    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 3    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

I could rant about how they should move on from Neville and throw money at Jim Curtin. Or about how they need to invest more to maximize their DPs.

But theyโ€™re not going to do those things because the club has become comfortable with mediocrity. Theyโ€™re as stuck in the mud as any club in MLS #RCTID

25.09.2025 13:56 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 22    ๐Ÿ” 2    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 3    ๐Ÿ“Œ 1

Itโ€™s pretty sunmarizable in a tweet.

The Timbers have a coach whoโ€™s never finished higher than sixth. Theyโ€™ve decided not to swim in the deep end of the transfer market. And their development pipeline is weak.

Their PPG is almost identical to 2024 because the output matches the input. #RCTID

25.09.2025 13:46 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 27    ๐Ÿ” 1    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 3    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Twice this year the Timbers have spent $5-6M on an attacking midfield DP only to be frustrated that they donโ€™t seem to be consistent game-changers.

The output is matching the input. The hope is certainly that theyโ€™ll punch above their weight, but that often takes timeโ€”if it happens at all. #RCTID

21.09.2025 18:22 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 14    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 2    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

The thing about the Oregon-Oregon State rivalry entering a less consistent period now is that thereโ€™s nothing inherent to the game or college athletics that caused this.

Peopleโ€”primarily media executivesโ€”decided that their interests were more important than maintaining this.

20.09.2025 19:08 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 9    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 2    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Whatโ€™s obvious about this situation is that theyโ€™re not going after Kimmel because he said anything egregiously bad.

Theyโ€™re going after him precisely because he didnโ€™t say anything egregiously bad so as to send a message to everybody in media and entertainment that they can get you, too.
