Medicaid debate: Focus on "able-bodied" Medicaid recipients is aimed at scaling back Obamacare In the Medicaid debate now raging on Capitol Hill, there is a great deal of confusion about basic facts about the Medicaid population. Some of it stems from mischaracterization of those on Medicaid.

The persistent claim is that there are so-called "able-bodied" people on Medicaid, and that this is a mistake (they “should never have been on the program”), or worse, “fraud”.

The important part, besides the fact that I have the coolest job in the world, is that more and more people are understanding that meaningful or creative or productive ways of filling and using a person’s time is absolutely vital to theiroverall health and well-being. And now on to my next patient!

If a person does have a barrier to participating in the activities that make them whole and healthy, we will find a way or we will find another way.

… and belonging. Our roots are in mental health and returning soldiers post World War I. There are several areas of occupation that we address, and leisure participation is right up there up there. We are always treating the whole person, never a body part or a disorder, and

OT is all about creative/productive/meaningful activities (“occupation” is old fashioned, but most of us don’t do anything related to employment). We use meaningful activity both to guide our treatment and AS the treatment interventions, bc we KNOW this is how people find motivation and meaning

Any traders with inside information that Trump was going to walk back his tariffs — some of them, presumably, Trump family members and cronies — just made a fortune.

It all feels like chaos until you look more closely at who is winning.

Wisconsin State Attorney General Josh Kaul is taking legal action against Elon Musk

House Republicans on the DOGE committee held a hearing to investigate and defund NPR and PBS.

Instead we need to have a hearing to investigate Trump trying to funnel $400 million to Elon Musk's companies then lying about it.

Trump & Musk are:

-Lying about Social Security fraud

-Making destructive cuts to SSA staffing and phone-based services 

-Threatening the security of people's personal information by giving DOGE access to sensitive SSA data

Social Security is in crisis entirely due to them.
