Ms. Tyson’s English classes have read through chapter 2 of #Frankenstein. They created their intrepretations of different key scenes from these opening pages in #Lego form.

Today’s #Frankenstein introduction. Students worked through a prop table, historical timelines, pop culture, ethics of creation, and setting & mood. The Build-A-Beast game was also launched where students will earn monster parts to build their own Creature and tie to their culminating writing. 🥼🧪🧟‍♂️

Dr. #Frankenstein shared his lab for today’s introduction to the novel for students to explore and make inferences and predictions. 🥼🧪🧟‍♂️

Professional development day at HACC!

Tried the Jenga review game from @meehanedu.bsky.social’s book, #EDrenaline Rush. The kids (and walkthrough) loved it! I also might have had some kids stressed out as their towers grew.

For #peerreview days, we throw it back to good old paper and pencil. While digital peer review offer convenience, paper review offers advantages such as increased engagement, reduction in distractions, and the ability to offer their peer more detailed/specific feedback through written notes.

ENGL102 & ENGL101 students getting a tour of the #HACC library for researching and writing! How to use a library and all of the things available through a college/university library are valuable tools for students at all levels.

In my room for today’s Sustainability #STEAM Challenge, students planted their own seeds and created care sheets to take care of their new plant. We filled my #greenhouse and hoping to eat what we grow come spring. 🍅🥒🧅🥬🌶️🫑

Collaboration in small groups and expressing creativity while discussing the character development of their Romeo & Juliet characters. Students are working toward analyzing motives, personality, and more. Eventually examining who is the most responsible for the deaths of Romeo & Juliet.

I want to start my own education-type #blog with my crossover thoughts on k-12 and higher ed. Suggested platforms?

I was finally able to launch my version of a #passionproject to my freshmen yesterday (snow & virtual days keep interrupting). I was impressed with the level of thinking, creativity, and personal passion students put into their initial ideas. They seem excited about the overall process!

Monday night is at the top of the list of both the most rewarding nights of my career. So many papers, research, and more to get here. Stepping out of the K-12 classroom & making my way into “official” higher ed was terrifying & exciting. Completely WILD being called “Professor” for the first time.
