Sick and trying to take care of small chores and also rest ahead of the coming blizzard.
Reading old books while I have the focus.
My friends in Minnesota want y'all to know that things are just as bad on the ground now as they were before.
Please continue to demand that Congress reigns in ICE (and ideally abolishes it) at the link below:
The patchwork worldwide legal framework resulting from the ungrounded moral panic over people under 18 using the internet has a lot of us making extremely unpleasant choices. The blame lies on the governments mandating them.

Light purple is the coldest at -30-degrees C. The equatorial below is mostly yellow and some green and the poles are light purple. Most of the Australian continent is a deep red, indicating extreme heat. It is a contrast to everything else on Earth.
whoaaa... looking at the temps across Australia today.
That's extreme.
Feeling for all the folks who were/are affected by this heatwave (we've been spared here in Sydney but other capitals and regional areas are really in the thick of it)
A friend of mine is raising funds for their neighbor Nielson, who had his rib broken by ICE agents.

Relative health crisis is doing a bit better.

Calls to reps now number at minimum >130 since I started last year. We keep fighting.
View of a bright blue drawstring being crocheted, laying surrounded by lots loops of the same loose acrylic wool, sitting on top of a knitted gray and burnt orange blanket with a central sun pattern
Love love love being able to just make a replacement drawstring when the previous one snaps.

A meeting I was going attend tonight has been postponed so that people can attend protests, vigils, and grief spaces in response to ICE killing a community observer in Minneapolis.
Minneapolis, Chicago is with you. ❤️
Bit quieter than usual here on account of family health crisis and work overload/over time.

I hope to actually spend time working on some of my own at home smart automation projects sometime soon, but first my year end review before it is overdue in 2 days.
(Ah the state of capitalism that I've worked like 11hr work days and need to use the first day of holidays for this)
Yay! Figured out an automation logic/thing in sandbox that I have literally been trying to make time to figure out for *months*
(Yes it's for work, yes I have been too busy to prioritize any projects, sigh)
"According to one of the Alligator Alcatraz survivors in the Amnesty report, people were put into the box simply for alerting the guards to someone's need for medication. "They were taken to 'the box' and punished for trying to help me," the person told Amnesty."
This is absolutely criminal.
An oil painting of a female Northern Cardinal, sitting on a lichen-encrusted branch. She's soft yellow-brown with red accents on her tail, wings, crest, and beak, and with a black mask. Her mood is fluffed up and relaxed, looking forward. The background is dark with sparkles of golden light. The artist's watermark reads: copyright Jennifer Miller "Nambroth" featherdust dot com.
"Everbright On Dark Days" Female Northern Cardinal, 10"x8" Oil on panel
The days are dark and short, and my mood seems to follow. But sometimes a thin ray of sun cuts through for a moment, and lights up the things I love, reminding me of how wonderful and beautiful they are, and it keeps me going
Ah the "oh no" feeling of getting the bike's studded snow tire on finally only to discover that the inner tube has sprung a leak.. 😭
