For an international example, we can look at Ukraine. Not a single person in the world, aside from Vladimir Putin, has a long-term outlook for the war and its resolution. European leaders seem entirely content to watch thousands of people die every year with no one end in sight.

The reason it petered out is because the politicos assumed that, due to the lack of a response, no one cares about the fascist takeover. That may be true to an extent. But what those politicos are failing to understand is that time+repetition=success.

What we find is that after a few fitful starts of resistance (Booker's filibuster) for example, it petered out entirely when there was no immediate response. Dems aren't even talking about boycotting Congress, much less doing another filibuster.

Fascists, despite this being slightly counter-inuitive, clearly are willing to work on plans for years and generations. And it seems like almost no one else is. Let's look at a variety of political crisis', both domestic and international. On the domestic front, we can examine the fascist takeover.

Now, on the one hand, it's obvious why - neoliberalism exacerbates the presentism of capitalism to such a degree that the past is a content mine, the future doesn't exist, and the now is all that we ever have.

This makes it difficult to resist fascism.

One of the biggest problems in modern politics isn't the fact that we all live in entirely delusional takes-bubbles (I'll be honest, that has been the case for most of human existence), but the fact that most people have completely lost the ability to plan things out long-term.
