Insane turnout numbers in NYC on the first day of early in-person voting.

Per @admcrlsn.bsky.social some of these borough numbers represent increases of over *500%* compared to Day 1 turnout in 2021 for the last Mayoral election.

Bonkers.

A quarterly survey of oil and gas companies released today by the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas quotes industry executives who blast Trump on everything from tariff and policy uncertainty to his attacks on renewable energy. "Life is long, and the sword being wielded against the renewables industry right now will likely boomerang back in 3.5 years against traditional energy," wrote one unnamed executive.

Some US oil executives apparently worry that a Dem administration coming next will destroy their operations using Trump’s war on renewables as a precedent.

Let’s make that true.

On a night like tonight, I think we can all agree on three things: the U.S. is a far too violent country, with warlike levels of gun violence; people shouldn't be murdered due to what they believe or say, no matter how awful, and Kash Patel is an embarrassing joke as the director of the FBI.

It is entirely possible to be respectful about the death of a person you disagreed with without “honoring” him by vowing to continue his disagreeable, hateful “work.”

The thing about investing in public transit is that it *scales* — the more people use it, the better it gets. For everyone.

Whereas the more cars there are, the *worse* everything about driving gets. Traffic. Parking.

Moderna withdraws application for COVID-flu combination vaccine Moderna said on Wednesday it has withdrawn an application seeking approval for its flu and COVID combination vaccine candidate after discussions with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

This is absolutely terrible news.

With the shifting regulatory climate (i.e., antivax ratfuckery), Moderna has withdrawn their application for their eagerly anticipated COVID-flu combo vaccine. This vaccine offered better protection than getting each shot separately.
