My old cat used to sit on the back of the sofa and lick the top of my head. It was both cute and very weird, which sums up cats.

We're (potentially) moving house (subject to contract yada yada) so we started a little packing today. 20 boxes of books and we're not even half way through the spare room!

It's my favourite! Have re-read it 5 or 6 times easily. I never knew it was out of print.

At some point I really must do my Culture read-through. God, Banks was so damn good.

I'm fine with, as long as he next extends the concept to a series of movies about every member of The Fall.

Oh there are piles too. My wife keeps her TBR pile next to the bed and honestly it's getting to the point she needs to consider how to climb over or around it safely!

I thought the second Ncuti Gatwa series was as good as Dr Who gets (the first felt a little "finding their feet" but still had brilliant stuff in it). I was gutted he didn't get years longer in the role.

I'll never forget my Uncle Alec. A true gentleman. Wasn't my Uncle though, or any kind of blood relative. He was just a friend of my grandparents. But I always called him Uncle.

Some boxers crease like mad, they need ironing (or replacing with better quality). But ironing socks? Nah. 'Tis not normal.

Me: By genre, then author, then size (hardbacks on their own shelves).

My wife: CHAOS!!

I read that last year, one of the few books that genuinely creeped me out. Not one to read just before bed!

I think about this a lot.

Agree, I think Ian is mostly right that people do perhaps need incentives or motivation to actually sit down & read but surely that's more to do with compelling & relatable stories than anything else. And there are *so many* of those out there.

That's the impression I'm getting. I didn't enjoy the Dr Strange or Spiderman movies post Endgame either, so it's nice to have Marvel stuff I actually like again, even if it's only a couple of series.

Things like BookTok (full disclosure, never used it, but still) are brilliant tools to get people reading.

We need to get away from the idea there are "bad" or "unworthy" books, stop looking down on people for reading romance, action or fantasy. Reading is reading.

Started Loki tonight (I know, I know, I'm years behind the zeitgeist) and it's... actually quite good and innovative.

Which begs the question why so much of Marvel's recent output felt like it was phoned in?

In text messages my mum spells the word "Jeez" as "Geeze" and I desperately want to correct her but she'll take the huff.

I guess I could help celebrate Christmas by saying "Happy Birthday Gesus?" and just accept it?

I thought the attack line on AOC was that she was just a cocktail waitress who knew nothing about politics? Now it's switched up to her being too cosmopolitan? Surprised people don't get whiplash with that kind of turnaround.

Tried to get into the Lakes today. Major error, the entire place was rammed. Hardly ever see it that busy aside from peak season in summer!

Enjoy! My wife has bought me a copy for Christmas so I need to avoid spoilers until then!
