Note how these awful people are getting exactly the exclusions of children that they demanded and *that still isn’t enough for them*: they demand everyone be delighted about it and kiss their arses for being brilliant.

100%; it also puts the viewer in Atreus' shoes, in that you don't know why Kratos is how he is and you're almost scared of him, possibly dislike him. Then the reveals and his softening is all the more meaningful.

Which LITERALLY HAPPENS IN RAGNAROK!

Over time, in the dialogue that happens as you bimble about, Kratos starts talking more and more about his time in Greece, as a way to further show how his character is developing as he's opening up more to Atreus and Mimir and Freya!!!!!

God fucking forbid a character has a bit of mystery to them, that's explored bit by bit over a period of time as a way to develop said character.

Oh for sure, the backstory will be explored in some way, probably interspersed throughout the seasons. I've seen people saying that they *have* to do the Greek stuff first so viewers know what's going on and why Kratos is the way he is, but... no, you don't. Let it be a mystery that slowly unfolds.

Philip K Dick movies all have names like CORTICAL IMPASSE and are based on short stories called like "Let's See What's Going On Down at the Brain Factory"

100000%. It’s that misreporting triggering a knee-jerk response and people just writing it off as nothing more than depraved, without engaging any further.

I think there’s definitely a subsection of people who would fully agree with you there. It might just be a chronically-online thing, Tumblr Brain updated, but there is a real current of almost puritanical thinking in regards to media. Like, it shouldn’t feature sex, or problematic antagonists.

(I’ve been saying this for a while now and it was genuinely great to see Zack Polanski say the same thing in an interview recently when he was asked about appealing to Reform voters. I’m not all-in on the Greens just yet, but Polanski’s saying all the right things IMO)
