And some datasets are ONLY available through restricted avenues. Taxpayers, you just paid mightily to learn about the experiences of 6th graders as they moved on to 8th grade, a key developmental window. And now no one can learn from those data that you paid for.

I’ve decided that I feel grief. I’ve used and studied modeling methods with NCES data since 1992. That’s 33 years. I’m sorry for all of those grieving with me, especially for those who have lost their livelihoods with it. It’s just wrong.
