The cover for Uncanny Magazine Issue 63, β€œBlessed Universe" by Galen Dara: An ethereal figure stands front and center of the frame, behind here there is a shower of stars on a violet space-landscape. She is dressed in robes that blend into her, and she holds her palms open. On each hand and the center of her chest there are three sources of light, as if she has the moon for a heart, and stars on the palm of her hands, a mist rises from her open palms. The quote reads: "What a strange world and what powerful characters Titos Pavlou has created! I can’t stop thinking about this book even though this might be for younger readers. But! It’s only the first in the series and I’ve read online that the second installment gets more grown-up, so I’ll stick it out for the battle scenes."

I’m told that there are awards nominations happening. I published one story last year. I love it to bits. So, if you’ve read it, I kindly ask you to consider It. ❀️

Ichthyosis - PSYCHOPOMP.COM This is how it begins.

So Nebula noms close tomorrow? The day after? I didn’t make an eligibility post because lolol, what are spoons, but I did write a story with a queer throuple, a (big) fish, the sea off the Coromandel Coast, and a whole lotta body horror messiness plus yearning in @fantasymagazine.bsky.social

Ah Yes, the Trick by Mari Ness

So, yes, everyone, the delightful folks over at Interstellar Flight Press have just published my latest poem, "Oh yes, the trick," as part of their Queer Speculative Disability Poetry in Conversation project.

Risa is such a generous person with excellent taste in short fiction (not just me! Read their whole thread!) and you should also read their fabulous fiction, such as a particular favorite of mine, Tigers for Sale clarkesworldmagazine.com/wolf_07_23/

That is a WILD strategic decision but I can definitely see how that can be more profitable *for Amazon* to prioritize the people who can spend that extra cash rather than good consistent sales. Although that does tell me there's room for places like Bookshop to come in and eat some lunch

It's very clearly weighted towards pushing the biggest sellers of broad categories but if I will buy every Weird Gay thing off your shelves you will get way more money from me than if you tried to sell me 1 Lovecraft and 1 Heated Rivalry. It doesn't make sense to me 🫠

The thing that continually surprises and also weirds me out is that it seems that recommendation algorithms haven't improved at all. Like what is the point of having hoovered up all consumer patterns and still cannot recommend someone an existing product that exactly fits their preferences?

So I feel (both as a reader & author) like discoverability of new books is down lately, especially for the midlist. Please tell me some recently published (past year-ish) SFF books you loved that are midlist/overlooked/deserve more hype! (And please share your recs/this list!)

My recs in reply!

And it does suck and there's a real loss there felt by each individual. The streamer has decided to stop the schedule you used to do laundry to. Now laundry is just a reminder of what you lost because no one else will perfectly fill that niche because you built that niche for them in your life.

You see that happen in the book. You see people frantically trying to get back that old time because they perceived it as a better and more secure time because that was when the god was consistently producing that content. But it's always been reliant on the agency of a person to choose to do it

25.02.2026 18:49 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

because the followers are still hoping the influencer is gonna go back to doing the thing instead of moving on and sometimes the celebrity does do it, a bit of appeasing or for the easy quick money and its like THEY'RE BACK THEY'RE BACK THEY LISTENED TO US and maybe but also no

And some people when their favorite influencer isn't into doing pivoting from ASMR Roleplay Boyfriend into Dogfluencer content it's like what do you even do. You're still going to their feed 3 months, 6 months, years later. Some folks are still commenting "I miss when you used to do X"

I'm thinking a lot about @samtasticbooks.com's The Wings
Upon Her Back and the world built there that it presents as a religion but to me it's celebrity culture. It's parasocial. God is real but isn't into that content you consumed about them anymore.

Foundryside is a setting where magic must be physically written onto an object, but its written like a bunch of rules the object follows instead of physics and then logic issues ensue

But yknow, now devs write plaintext constraints in their codebases so LLM do good maybe so yeah FUN TIMES

Extremely wild time to read Robert Jackson Bennett's Foundryside worldbuilding while also existing in a world where engineers are writing scriptures of plaintext in the hopes of constraining the LLM from running haywire
