Worked from home today as I'm contagious: finally gone down with a virulent cold, but well enough to work. Instead of a nature walk with colleagues at lunchtime seeing the Jesus College deer, we dodged the rain and saw robins, squirrels and the Fen Ditton yarn bomber, with bonus Doctor Who villain.

Busy, tiring and varied day today, doing social stuff, book 📕 searching, referencing, website editing, book processing, AI discussing and BSL. Got home in time to watch the ice dancing, saw the deer at sunset and got a special Valentine's hot chocolate ♥️ from the cafe staff.

Last Christmas presents as with rest of my family after they returned to Cambridge today, celebrating my geekiness: Stitch, Grogu and Travis. I am not a morning alien. My niece made me a special card.

1/2 Visited the Mill Road Old Library today, opened as part of Mill Road Winter Fair, which was great. I was unexpectedly emotional as I spent time there a lot as a child: it was right next to my Dad's old workplace. It's been gutted, which gutted me 😢

Oh and I totally forgot the Brit Awards I won tickets to in 2003! That counts as a concert, right? I saw Pink (worst), Avril Lavigne (brilliant), Coldplay (rubbish), David Gray (the best), Kylie & Justin Timberlake performed together & we left during Tom Jones who won the lifetime achievement award!

I didn't include Cambridge Folk Festival, so technically my first would be The Levellers or The Waterboys.

Exactly! They're my favourite band. I've seen them many times.

When the bushes and trees block the sun from burning off the frost, but the cyclists do instead. Felt like a wimp walking, but didn't feel safe, still better than cycling Newmarket Road like I had to this morning.

1/2 Though we weren't lucky enough to see any beavers, we got to see behind the scenes of the Rushden Lakes beaver project, behind locked gates. Which means we saw the felled trees, gnawed bark and beautiful views.

Really good Halloween themed Creative Writing Club last night. Got to use a family ghost story as inspiration, as well as lots of sweets. There were fellow Parma Violet lovers in the room!

3/3 It was last minute, unexpected and difficult, but not for sharing part of myself, only the public speaking aspect. I was just myself and felt like I belonged. Luckily someone caught the moment for me.

2/3 For someone who used to try so hard to fit in, contorting myself into someone I'm not just to conform, this meant a lot. I performed my own work at storytelling night at The Elm Tree yesterday and got good feedback.

1/3 I'm used to words hitting home in a bad way, but when they touch me deeply, I'm not used to it. I was moved to tears last night when I hugged someone goodbye and they said "thank you for fitting in so well".
