One of the main reasons my wife and I moved to Minneapolis 6 years ago was so we could maximize our opportunities to ice skate outdoors.

Every cold day like this is one day closer to the best time of the year in Minneapolis.

Minneapolis City Council considers raising power bill fees to fund eco-friendly improvements The Minneapolis City Council is considering a proposed ordinance that would increase franchise fees on power bills to fund eco-friendly improvements for homeowners and property owners.

Interesting idea to fund climate action at the city level; one of the only sensible funding sources we have! sahanjournal.com/climate-envi...

Clearly, a large number of red-green colorblind drivers out there need better accommodation.

Lawn signs showed up today. Doing my part to balance Ward 13. Maybe one day we can get a council candidate I'd be happy to include.

I pay about $650 a year for my 2018 Prius. Once a year, I panic that the premium is so low because I dont have enough coverage, but it always seems reasonable when I double-check. I feel like some people could really benefit from shopping around more.

My 4 year old noticed the rainbow on our bike ride to child care this morning. I would have missed it.

Cashman's got labor, Shaffer with the C Suite, but who's got middle management's back? Who's with the men who've been promoted to their level of incompetence already and barely afford to send their 3 kids to Benilde-St Margaret's?

Notice that the curb barrier also pinches a little at the entrance. Another technique that the city is trying to prevent cars from entering the bike lane

As I understand it. Here is the top 50:

I'm not going to die by this table. I thought it was interesting that the discussion that was raised earlier in the week regarding the culture of walking in MSP was backed by some quantitative measure.

They ranked the largest 100 metro areas by population and for some reason put the top 50 in a table and the bottom 50 in a different table.

You have to be able to park at the Lake Harriet Bandshell in order to walk the 3 miles around the lake!

I agree - seems like a cultural issue. Whats interesting is that Minneapolis is going all in on infrastructure (which I love) to achieve the goals in the Transportation Action Plan. But maybe the city should also be doing more to fund programs which help guide cultural shifts (like Pedal Power).

When I saw this conversation first going on here, I was frustrated because the discussion was focused on anecdotal experiences. So I looked up some data and found that, in 2022, MSP is among the lowest of all major metro areas in average annual daily walking trips:

How rough are the surfaces you ride on? Standard asphalt roads with occasional rough spots or worse?

I've been considering a suspension seat post, but it seems like a lot of money for something that I've not been 100% sure is necessary. I wish there was a way to try these things out.

This past winter, my son got really into riding the bus to daycare. It turned out that the fastest/most consistent way to do it was to do the 46 to the D line and then walk 3/4 mile through Powderhorn Park with a folding stroller. That 15 min walk was always one of my favorite parts of the day.
