Being able to see the pokemon I want and not having to spend hours looking in four grass tiles for ONE pokemon to play peekaboo with.

I think the one bit of realism that modern games can do without is the panting while running.
If it's to show that the player is out of stamina naturally (IE: Silent Hill) then...sure...I guess.
But hearing "nng...huff...haa..." nonstop gets irritating.
