I watched Nobuhiro Yamashita's One Second Ahead, One Second Behind last night.

Arguably the weirdest part of the movie was at the end when, as a joke I said "She's going to get hit by a truck." And then she did in fact get hit by a truck with no fanfare.

Not bad for one guy with RPG maker.

When you make games at that kind of frequency (and make all the assets yourself), you really get down what does and doesn't work and build a library of reusable sprites and music that will never be at odds with your artstyle.

hakika is... kind of a genius, I wish they had more to say on bluesky. I can really respect one-man shows like ZUN (Touhou), hakika (SEQUEL), and Jynx (Len'en).

Also, it's really impressive that hakika has made one game a year for the last fifteen years.

It has a mechanically complex system (as much as Star Rail), well-written character skits (Tales-style), likable characters, souslbourne item description worldbuilding, and three games have made me cry on stream.

It's also a soft femdom hentai game, so it's almost impossible to recommend to people.

SEQUEL is (if I am not allowed to pick MECHANICA as it's more visual novel than RPG) probably the best RPG maker game/series I have ever played.

Compared to mainstream (that I've played), it is a tough contender with Star Ocean 2 and Ar Tonelico for RPG enjoyability, and with Star Rail for writing.
