Finding Judaism in an Ohio Town Without a Synagogue The first time I stepped into a synagogue, I was sixteen years old and hundreds of miles from my hometown of Lancaster, Ohio.

There was no synagogue in Austin Reid Albanese’s hometown, but traces of Jewish life were still there.

From library books to quiet stories passed between neighbors, these fragments helped shape a journey toward Judaism that continues today.
