13. Jurassic World - Rebirth
Oh dear! A few good story beats and some excellent CGI intermingled with terrible writing, ridiculous action, stupid characters, an incredibly annoying child, and awful phoned in acting.

I do not know what I ate but I am now 90% fart.

12. Despicable Me
Maybe the fifth time I’ve seen it, and I think a lot of it’s quality is in its originality, but it is still good and has style even though it didn’t have Disney money. Considering it’s made for young kids a lot of it works well for adults.

11. The Toxic Avenger Unrated
Incredibly high quality low quality movie, full of schlock and gore. This was great fun with several ‘holy shit’ moments and some hilarious action.

10 Tron: Ares
Not as cool as Legacy not as novel as the original but not as bad as they say either. It could have done without Jared and it repeated itself too much, but it had a few fun things going on. However a moment’s thought about the plot fucks this film into a cocked hat.

9. Predator: Badlands
A little Marvelish in its style but so much better in its construction. The humour of the characters isn’t smug and fits due to its nervous or hopeful nature. The action is good and pretty continuous but the fights felt a bit sluggish given the androids and aliens involved.

8. Fantastic Four: First Steps
Great looking design work, kinda The Incredibles and Meet the Robinsons version of the original comics. Unfortunately some real flimsy writing that made it feel like a fixup. But, still overall better than a lot of other superhero movies.

7. The Naked Gun (2025)
It somehow felt empty like the jokes weren’t tight enough. Neeson’s lack of facial acting really let it down. The filming felt too crisp and clean cut, like it was made for Netflix. It was ok.

6. Dream Scenario
An awkward film full of self obsessed arseholes. The extreme of your partner getting upset after seeing you doing something objectionable in their dreams. It’s well made but not my kind of thing.

5. Mr. Nice Guy
Amazing stunts and action as you’d expect, the general plot could work in a better made film, but the characters and acting really couldn’t be much worse.

4. Ballerina
Better than at least two of the John Wick movies even if the fighting and driving isn’t as crisp. It’s basically the same story as The first John Wick if you exchange a dad for a dog.

3. The Thursday Murder Club
Soft spongy uncinematic murder mystery with some pretty ropey TV movie plot and acting.

2. The Phoenician Scheme
Incredibly beautiful production design and manufacture, but seriously twee and affected story and filming. I would watch it again for a proper look around, not for the plot.

In general a very good dark comedy, unfortunately it goes in for moments of over serious self-righteousness that occasionally make it feel like an afternoon medical drama.

Made this a monthish ago after seeing Hank Green’s 2025 one on his US penny video.
Not exactly happy at how quickly I got a space filled.

I know this isn’t exactly the point but, that poorly becurtained chode closet has some ugly fucking chairs.

My 2025 wrap up on Letterboxd was a little surprising
