From Friction to Flourishing: Navigating the risks, rewards and long-term advantages of interdisciplinary research Interdisciplinary research is often praised for its potential to address β€˜big picture’ problems and complex challenges, yet the academic structures in which it operates are not designed to support it ...

I also reflected on this in my keynote:
🎀 β€œFrom Friction to Flourishing: Navigating the risks, rewards & long-term advantages of interdisciplinary research”

I noted it is celebrated in theory, yet often challenged in practice.

How population stratification led to a decade of sensationally false genetic findings Stratification makes environments look like genes

I agree that assortative mating, population stratification, etc. has greatly influenced past findings.

I agree that she is an amazing artist & kind that you say it! But I don't agree the @dr-appie.bsky.social et al paper is 'bad science'. We argue that social structural factors, like environment, families, assortative mating & population stratification ARE important AND impact estimates.
