and will look bad. Thus, if you need to do that specific thing, convert the "Background" layer to a standard layer.
Right click the Background layer, > Convert to... > Layer
Another valuable thing to mention that's semi-realated! Make sure to convert your Background layer that's underlined if you are making edits to compressed images! The reason why you should do this is that if you crop and image and decide to expand the dimensions again, it will create cut-off space

Digital painting of a lanky four-armed creature. Their entire body is golden with limbs being lighter and slightly glowing. Upper pair of the arms is bigger and longer than the lower. They're covered in some sort of carapace or scales and have plenty of tendril-like things covering their body -- mostly shoulders, forearms, neck, and calves.
Just Fate being long

Another shoutout to @silos.bsky.social for the amazing work this week on @idwpublishing.com's #Sonic backlog!
Keep in mind that each of these issues has multiple covers and artists, so huge kudos to Stephen for capturing all of this on our site!

Sprite art (nowadays simply referred as "pixel art") was originally a giant hurdle for artists of games and hardware back then, but now it's considered a stylistic choice from the endless creativity you could work with >
05.03.2026 05:21 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0One thing I learned is the reason why sprite art existed in the first place. Originally it wasn't a stylistic choice (although sometimes it was), but it was more so that the technology was limited to what hardware could store and display. This led to innovations such as dithering, sub-pixel >

There is a lot you can do with 64px. Made this as my βbodilessβ pfp.
I suggest maybe starting with 32px first, but if thatβs not enough, go with 64px.
