Kangfu Peng, Hong Zhang et al. show that scramblase-attenuated #Celegans ATG-9 mutants rescue the #autophagy defect and lysosome damage caused by nondegradative autolysosomes. This uncovers the role of ATG-9 in regulating #lysosome function & integrity. rupress.org/jcb/article/...

It’s incredibly hard to study lipids in biological membranes on the nanoscale. You need near-perfect information on both membrane ultrastructure and lipid density, which usually isn’t attainable. Lipid-CLEM brought to you by @mathilda95.bsky.social changes that.

How proximal is proximity labeling❓ Using DNA nanorulers we found that TurboID/BioID are largely contact labeling, while APEX2 also bears a major contact labeling pathway in parallel with diffusive labeling.

Mechanistic studies of autophagic cargo recruitment and membrane expansion through in vitro reconstitution Autophagy is a highly conserved catabolic pathway to remove deleterious cytosolic material to maintain cellular homeostasis and cell survival. Upon autophagy induction, a unique double-membraned struc...
