New High of 45% in U.S. Identify as Political Independents A new high of 45% of U.S. adults identified as political independents in 2025.

The most recent Gallup poll only has 33% of Americans describing themselves as "moderate." news.gallup.com/poll/700499/...

Here's a Gallup poll in 2024 that doesn't split things up the same way, but only 34% describe themselves as "moderate" (way lower than 30 years ago!). You'd get 78% if you added the percentages who say they are conservative, moderate, or liberal... but that seems like a stretch, right?

Understanding Americans' ideology 9% of Americans describe their politics as far-left, 15% as left, 9% as center-left, 21% as center, 10% as center-right, 17% as right, and 5% as far-right.

Here's a YouGov poll from a month ago, where only 40% of Americans put themselves in one of those three categories. yougov.com/en-us/articl...

Ellison responded, “So, look, I’ve said this since the beginning, which is, you know, for — when it really comes to — editorial independence will absolutely be maintained. It’s maintained at CBS. It’ll be maintained at CNN. And, really, who we want to talk to is the 70% of Americans and really around the world that identify as center-left, as center-right. And we want to be in the truth business. We want to be in the trust business. And that’s not going to change.”

David Ellison throws this "70%" around a lot, but it looks like a fake result? I can't find any poll that says anything particularly close to that number, and existing polls directly contradict it.

In two decades, presidents will screw up and they’ll become major scandals, and people will say “Imagine if Trump did this!” to reminisce about a time when half the country wouldn’t have cared.

Trump sees his job as “which guy I kill?” and then to peace out like Leonard Nimoy after escaping a runaway monorail.

This “take over your government” stuff is going to be how Trump blames the people of Iran for anything that goes wrong after the initial bombing.

“I did my job, but a lot of stupid people made a lot of mistakes after we did our job, and we did a great job,” and so forth.

I expected to see full-throated condemnations from every Democrat in Congress reposted into my feed. Since I’m not seeing that yet, I can only assume they’re still dutifully working on them.

Can't wait to be surprised when 85 million Americans don't remember this in a decade.

The lies about Trump's approach to war and foreign policy were ubiquitous. Just a few.

I'm already sick of "It's all a distraction from Epstein" replies. This regime is killing innocent people because our leaders are all power-hungry tyrants and war profiteers. When you say it's "just a distraction" you minimize the gravity of what's happening and the lives lost.

Hate to lib out here, but even if there was some sort of clear, strategic goal, this would still be highly illegal and the president should be impeached and removed from office immediately.

Of course, justices would likely retire during the previous term of their own party, if not confident in the next election’s outcome, to avoid flipping power, which would also be preferable to them sticking around for 4 decades before strategically retiring.

SCOTUS term limits would also take the guesswork out of things. If this were in place just for the current crop, Thomas, Roberts, and Alito would be gone, replaced by Democratic presidents for a 6-3 advantage. And then Trump would get to replace Sotomayor and Kagan in the next few years.
