For day 212 of #TheDiegeticShuffle, @ithiliel.bsky.social found this smooth sax player in the Outlaws DLC, jamming on a raised platform. It wasn't until the Wild Card DLC soundtrack was released a few weeks later that we learned it was "Outer Rim Rhapsody" by @codymatthewjohnson.bsky.social.

In any case, a couple months back I got one of those emails but instead of recreating "Radioactive" it was my friends at Disney asking for a modern recreation of the Star Wars cantina scene for the new theme park. long story short, I did like 10 versions and they'll be using one of them! The song above is one of the rejects but one of my favorites. I titled it, "Toydarian Crooner" and had a blast fucking with the vocals to give it an alien vibe. "After Hours at Oga's" is a rollicking pop song that R3X plays in Oga's, with multiple vocalists singing in a language that sounds a bit French to me. The band is Bluetopian Blues, and since Oga Garra is a Blutopian perhaps it's her band…after hours? youtu.be/fmY1DIoXV6k?...

The music from this episode, "Out of Darkness", is credited to Kevin Kiner, though David G. Russell and Matthew St. Laurent also worked on the episode. The cue is not named on the cue sheet.

THE CREDITS Witches are a fairly recent addition to the Star Wars canon. How did you approach scoring the coven introduced in The Acolyte? Even before the percussion, that was actually where I started because these witches are a very important element to the story, but also, there's a logistical reason I started there, which is that they perform the music on camera. That means it has to exist before they shoot it instead of being created in post-production. The music is mostly women's voices because the coven is all women, so that seemed natural, and even though they represent

an alien culture, it is very multicultural because it's meant to feel like a culture of spirit that's not of this world. So we deliberately made sure we had a range of vocals from throughout the world, and that each singer had an ability so they could sing riffs that were distinct to their cultural backgrounds, then I wrote music that allowed all those styles to coexist. The words are right from the script: "The power of one, the power of two, the power of many." Then, once it had been shot, l added some percussive elements because the scene is a ritual, and it had to feel supernatural, but it also had to feel ceremonial in a way that felt tribal.

It's not clear how much of what we hear is diegetic—some of the singing is, but the full chorus ("a blend of international vocalists and languages") and percussion are ambiguous. It was the first cue Abels wrote for the show, as it was performed on camera. www.motionpictures.org/2024/06/the-...

"Stormtrooper JP-054 Karaoke" is a cha-cha that plays in the background of Han's awkward reunion with Qi'ra on Dryden's yacht in Solo. We don't see it, but presumably there's a stormtrooper up on stage singing karaoke just off-camera?

Chukha-Trok was voiced by Michael Pritchard, a comedian and voice actor who appeared on Taxi and Sesame Street and in the Captain EO show. I'm guessing this song was mostly his improvisation. Pritchard has since worked for decades as a motivational speaker for kids.

The great warrior Chukha-Trok sings a little marching song in Ewokese to himself after he joins up with Wicket, Deej, Weechee, Widdle, Cindel, and Mace in 1984's "The Ewok Adventure"/"Caravan of Courage". We're playing it for you on day 205 of #TheDiegeticShuffle.

We visit a Tatooine mod parlour on day 201 of #TheDiegeticShuffle for a few different flavors of techno. "The Mod Parlour" was written by Joseph Shirley and Ludwig Göransson, and features Thundercat (aka Stephen Bruner, theamazingthundercat.com, who plays the Modifier) on bass.
