It is precisely TERFs who are trying to make the word "queer" an insult in the Russian language. To do this, they use the form "квиросня" (queerosnya).

These are all anglicisms with similar histories, not rooted in our language. Even today, "gay" is used more often as an insult than "queer," since only few russian homophobes know this word. And historical russian queer slang is also either an insult or an insult from prison slang

I also find their dislike of the word "queer" amusing. I understand older English-speaking people who may have encountered this word as an insult in the past, but in Russia, this word is quite similar to the words "gay" and "lesbian."

They have no idea that it's a layer of research through the lens of critical theory of queer experience and everything that lies outside of cis-hetero normativity, and that this theory originated with lesbians in academia.

Some Russian TERFs have begun to realize that something is wrong with the concept of "gender theory," so they've begun to use the term "queer theory" more actively. However, as usual, they haven't figured out what it is and are using it as if it were an ideology.
