Mentors do not need to meet all of the criteria to be eligible for nomination but should meet a number of the criteria across the different domains.

Award criteria:

1. Inductor into the profession – supporting development of history teacher identity

2. Pastoral support - non-judgmental and empathetic, concerned for wellbeing

3. Guide into teaching history – challenges their mentee to focus on pupils’ historical learning

To nominate a mentor, complete the MS Form responding
to the criteria with an example demonstrating how the mentor has met an aspect(s) of each mentoring domain.

The Award will be presented at HTEN AGM in June.

Nominations for this award can be submitted by mentees
(beginning teachers) or by Initial Teacher Training (ITT) course leaders/professional mentors/ school coordinators who wish to acknowledge mentors who have made a significant impact on their mentee’s development as a history teacher.
