Hallway brain dump & medical station already is proving a useful #ADHD #accommodation, both remembering to do things and not having to walk half the length of the apartment multiple times from bathroom to where I was keeping some of this before in my studio.

Fixed some issues with the lids with a few little adjustments of the nuts & bolts holding on the hinges, there's still a warp in the top door that's vexing me. It doesn't lay flat on the left when closed...hrrrm

I read a heat gun and water might be the solution. Getting dialed in otherwise :)

Yes. Many times. With other folks is fine but I don't really get the social stigma around thing things on your own. I like it personally. Concerts, shows, movies, dinner, whatever. Things to enjoy unto themselves IMO.

LoL, joke I'm guessing but for sure, I just made it for myself, not a product for sale.

Okay, still want to paint, not totally happy with the lid, but I'm a little bit fried on this so done for a bit. I'll live with it and figure out what works and then make any final tweaks. Got to get to using it, and doing more drawing!

FYI It's a secretarial desk for the hall across from the bath, to help manage my #ADHD and diabetes better and stay on task.
Day planers don't work for me so well.
So this is going to be my brain dump and check in station, that'll I see first thing in the morning soon as I get out of bed.

Hinges arrived so was able to get back to this. Tomorrow I'll cut the top door panels and get that assembled, then I can use wood filler on some goofs, prime the whole thing and paint it. The last thing to add will be the magnetic black whiteboard I ordered for inside.

Bit more work on the desk. Have some cool hinges coming in a few days, but think I can cut the panels for the lid. Think, I'm going to make it segmented in two parts, and set some small magnets into that so it has a partial open mode to grab things off the shelf.

A shot of the secretarial desk raw bones. Built out of a mix of hardwood, finishing quarter inch pine for the backboard, and a couple of pieces of pine for a little shelf and reinforcement/mounting bar underneath the desk top. Some parts on order for hardware, It'll have a Ferris black back board for notes and things, and think I'm painting it. Wood is always lovely, but I have something in mind for the look and finish a bit more lived in.

Shot of my sketchbook where I designed the wall mountain desk. Originally thought of it as being a little bit bigger but had to adapt when I cut some pieces slightly off so it's not going to be as wide or tall but proportionately very close to what is seen here minus the bottom pegboard.

The other thing I've been working on this past week is an external brain extension for the hallway.

A good week in the studio. A segue into sculpture to work out some blocks drawing my comics! The bug has caught, I'm going to be doing a lot more sculpting for sure with this stuff.

Carving to do but almost there - in the course of making it stable to stand, I made a comfortable handle/grip for holding while I draw!
All the awkward angles are just there now. Don't have to think about that again 😉

Finding the personality - I kind of love the wire frames on their own, and the current level of machined rough not quite refined form on the white surfaces. Giving me ideas, going to order a big pile of sculpey.

I initially The Box #Art was a kind of automatic drawing, letting myself make everything up as I go. Fun but #comics, so eventually you need to start repeating #characters. My whimsical #fay goat soldier lead was proving challenging to repeat. Decided I need to #sculpt a #bust to work from for it.
