I’m honestly jealous that you get to watch it all for the first time. Goddamn is it a gem.

I somehow saw it when the pilot program was still going on at Amazon and voted for it back then. I’ve been obsessed for years.

Now Pandora is on. What happens in Czechia stays in Czechia. Goddamn is this another banger. The Chernuchin years may as well have been crafted by aliens.

End Game was so unbelievably awful. And it was obvious instantly. That SVU fell so far from what it did so well is jarring. The new Fazekas-led eps have me hopeful, but it’s often such a bummer to watch a later SVU that JUST. DOESN’T. WORK.

We recorded 243 last night. It was S20E24, the last #SVU for Chernuchin (and Stone). If you’ve seen it, you can only imagine how we felt about it. Watching Closure Part 2 on USA right now, and it’s so glaring how disparate a good ep and a bad ep of SVU are. This is so good. It’s immediately obvious.

I routinely say this is my favorite show. That hasn’t changed, and I have wanted to do a podcast about it for so many years. It is such a rewarding watch, as I can attest to having watched it all six times and counting.

Cool.

I can’t fully divorce from my feelings in the early goings, but I consciously try not to let it all bleed through too much.

I definitely felt like I should let my issues simmer in the background early so as not to unduly slant the greater reaction of the film in that direction. As we often say, it’s not all about us, it’s about the guest’s experience, so I often know that my biggest punches will have to wait.

This is a fun journey for the listener, where everyone likes the movie well enough, but the more you talk about it, the more it starts to unravel. My take is Disney made a weird, perhaps incomplete movie on the relative cheap that still wins on vibes.

Really great time spent with Nick D'Agostino revisiting this one that I'd not seen in ~35 years. I remembered quite liking it, so I had a little more skin in the game than usual, and I'm not sure it held up great.
