eng below-- Oggi è il 1 marzo, Capodanno Veneto 🪽 🦁 🪽 Posto quest'opera hand-lettering venetica intitolata "Batar Marso; Brusar Marso" ( battere marzo, bruciare marzo in veneto) che ho creato il 23 febbraio.✍🖼Gina Pigozzo nel suo libro "La Tavola di Este" ( 2023) racconta che "Brusar Marso" era l' usanza pagana veneta di bruciare - lungo i fiumi durante il mese di marzo a mezzogiorno - la vegetazione secca ( terreni non coltivati, residui di canne e quant'altro) per rinvigorire la nuova. 🔥🌱Durante la Serenissima l'evento del "batar Marso" era anche detto "ciamar marso" (Chiamare Marzo) in quanto a Venezia facevano rumore sulle pentole - e non solo - per risvegliare la natura. 🍲🥄A quanto pare, i miei nonni non praticavano né "Brusar Marso" né il "Batar Marso" . I miei ne hanno solo sentito parlare 🤔A mio parere, ha molto più senso iniziare l'anno a marzo che a gennaio.💪🌿🌼--------------Today is March 1st, Venetian New Year 🪽 🦁 🪽 . I I post this venetic hand-lettering artwork called "Batar Marso; Brusar Marso" (To pound March; to burn March) I created on February 23rd. ✍🖼Gina Pigozzo in her book "La Tavola di Este" (2023), says that "Brusar Marso" was a pagan Venetian tradition of burning — along the rivers during the month of March at noon— dry vegetation (uncultivated land, reed residue, and so on) to promote new growth. 🔥🌱During the Venetian Republic, the event of "batar Marso," it was also called "ciamar marso" (Calling March) because in Venice people made noise on pots and pans and not only, to wake up the nature. 🍲🥄Apparently, my grandparents did not practice either "Brusar Marso" or "Batar Marso." My hand-letting work titled "Batar Marso; Brusar Marso" (pound March, burn March) created on white mixed-media paper with fineliner pen, fire, and burned wood. It features letters in Venetic alphabet that form the work's title, flowers, and graphic lines that evoke an ancient Venetian custom of burning dry vegetation and reawakening nature. The work is also dedicated to the Venetian New Year, which corresponds to March 1st.

Stained glass window made of cardboard, tissue paper, and transparent paper.
It depicts a panevin, a traditional bonfire typical of the Veneto region and Friuli Venezia Giulia held in January.
On the left there is a house of Ancient Veneti and, below it, a couple in Venetian cloth. At the bottom there are some writings in venetic alphabet, including "panevin," my name and surname (Elisa Tonini), my full signature, and the year of creation, 2026.
5th january 2026, my stained-glass window featuring a Panevin. It's a traditional bonfire typical of the Veneto and Friuli regions - known in various names- that helds on Epiphany's Eve (January 5th) but also on other dates throughout the month.

eng below--E niente, domani è Natale e per l'occasione ho creato quest'opera con i dolci che mi piacevano di più del periodo: pandoro, torrone e mandorlato 🥜🍞. Per motivi personali, da circa dieci anni non mangio questi prodotti - e non solo -.Tranne il torrone morbido (in basso) il pandoro ed il mandorlato sono dolci tipici natalizi veneti, dalla provincia di Verona. Da piccola/adolescente apprezzavo molto il pandoro con lo zucchero a velo sopra, brevemente scaldato vicino al termosifone. Qualcuno ci schiaffava sopra il mascarpone - ed a volte anche mostarda - ma per me era un sacrilegio. 👀---Well, tomorrow will be Christmas and, for the occasion, I created this artwork with the Christmas desserts I liked the most: pandoro, torrone, and mandorlato 🥜🍞. For personal reasons, I haven't eaten these products - and not only - since about ten years.Except for soft torrone (below), pandoro and mandorlato are traditional Christmas sweets from the Veneto region, precisely from the province of Verona. As a child/teenager, I really enjoyed pandoro with powdered sugar on top, previously heated a few time near the radiator. Some people spreaded mascarpone on top - and sometimes even mostarda - but in my opinion, that was outrageous. 👀 P.s. it is said: "A Natale siamo tutti più buoni"/ At Christmas we are all better". My artwok on panel called "Hello" portraying a kind of stylized great tit ( parus major) ,integrated on a copper and violet background.
On the left, in low relief and in venetic alphabet, it's written the name of the artwork "Ciao". On the top and on the right, there're engraved my name and surname (Elisa Tonini) and my signature with year of creation, 2025
My artwork on panel n°79 called "Hello". One evening, in May 2024, I was staring at the sky, hoping to see aurora borealis in Veneto. No luck. Next day, a great tit (Parus major) came to visit me.

Picture with a sheet dedicated to "Fa el to leon", where I ask people to paint, draw, doodle, letter (and so on) their own winged lion. This challenge is dedicated to the Saint Mark Lions, symbol of Venice and of the Veneti
My version of the Lion of saint Mark called "El me Leon in moeca". "in moeca" ( a venetian word) refers to a winged lion lion seen in front view instead of the walking one. My artwork is created on paper with fine-liner pens and highlighters. In venetic alphabet I've written "Pax tibi Marce evangelista, meus", the traditional phrase
My first-ever #artchallenge called "Fa el to leon" / "Create your own lion." about the winged lion of Saint Mark, symbol of the Venetian people. Portray your lion, with your vision, somehow preserving the "Pax tibi marce evangelista meus."

Image of the first page of my comic dedicated to Angelo Giustinian-Recanati (1757-1813), the extraordinary provveditore of Treviso who calmly and firmly opposed Napoleon, who arrived in Treviso on May 2nd, 1797, to declare war on the Republic of Venice.
There is a brief introduction, which states that Giustinian met Napoleon twice. The first in Graz on April 25, 1797, and then again on May 2nd.
Giustinian sends greetings to Napoleon on behalf of the Venetian Republic.

Napoleon is furious with the Serenissima and accuses Giustinian of serving criminals who threaten freedom and revolutionary ideals. Recanati says he will not leave Treviso unless the government orders him to. Napoleon is furious and demands the heads of ten Venetian inquisitors.
