Poster reading: In the early 1900s seven wooden barrels branded “pure white spirit” were shipped from Oxford University in England to the University of NSW. Five days overdue the University staff visited the docks only to find most of the wharfies intoxicated when asked if they’d been drinking from the barrels the rascally deck hands replied that they may have “tested” the alcohol to see what it was. Unfortunately for them they soon learned the true contents of the barrels was in fact the preserved bodies of monkeys intended for dissection at the UNSW biology department they had unknowingly consumed the juice of picked monkeys. Thus, the legend of the pickled monkey was born serving as a cautionary tale… Don’t f#ck with the monkey!

We’ve struggled to get (to our palates) good guacamole since moving back to Aus. Tried making it. Two avos, finely diced shallot, teaspoon garlic, diced pickled jalapeños teaspoon chili flakes, juice of 1 lime and 1/4 bunch of cilantro (coriander). it’s pretty good, but not quite there.

I’m in a similar situation. I’ve got connections on there I treasure and some of them aren’t adopting a new platform ever (my Godmother for example, who is, in her defence, 85)

Visited the Chihuly exhibition in the Adelaide botanical gardens today. It was amazing. And gave us a pretty good excuse to visit Adelaide for the first time in 20 years!
