Hi Tom. Good overview of the Peak District - how far along the HPT did you get? The stretch from where it crosses Via Gellia (A5012) back to the Cromford Canal is great on foot or bike, with Minninglow, Harboro' Rocks, Brassington, Middleton Moor, Black Rocks and Wirksworth all worthwhile detours.

The Peak District: A Guide

@eightthegreen.bsky.social thanks for the follow. I see a visit to your place in my near future.
Had a lovely weekend in Winster last year and decided we must come back to walk the remainder of the High Peak Trail that we didn't cover.
Here's my guide to the area:

Last light on Middleton Moor: the February sun sets behind a row of silhouetted trees against a darkening sky. The moor sits high above Wirksworth and the Ecclesbourne Valley in the Derbyshire Dales, and was recently bought by Derbyshire Wildlife Trust for restoration and rewilding.

Vivid blue sky with scattered clouds over a grassy Middleton Moor landscape, featuring a stone wall in the foreground. Bold text at the top reads, "Together we've secured Middleton Moor!" with a bright yellow background and curved edges.
A group of people stands outdoors on a grassy area, smiling and wearing winter clothing. Above them, a bright yellow area with the text reads, "Thank you to all who made this possible." The sky is cloudy, and the setting has a cheerful, collaborative atmosphere.
