Exactly this @cybeam1.bsky.social.

Japan went after India not because they wanted to humiliate India, but because they showed the ambition that they need to have in every tournament where they defend the Nadeshiko.

As you said, this kind of victory gives a real boost. Truly, today's result and performance couldn't have been better.

Honestly, I think we need to look at this game from a different perspective than usual. The usual approach would be "we won because the opponent is far inferior," and that would be a arrogant view, but we won because Japan was far superior and didn't accept the result when it was already guaranteed.

Exactly where I'm thinking of @cybeam1.bsky.social.

And for the Mina and Maika thing. I think Mina is making different job serving the forwards and midfielders to making goals.

And I believe Maika is a little too anxious (normal for someone who went so long without a good run of minutes as a starter).

Well, I think Manaka didn't get her chances because whoever got in the rotation is doing well, but I think she, Akane, and Rion should play against Vietnam. Maybe Nielsen will make the change of Momoko and Fuka starting and Honoka in them midfield to rest Yui @cybeam1.bsky.social.

Nothing more to say @cybeam1.bsky.social.

I cover Nadeshiko as a supporter and journalist since 15 years ago and I'm still amazed by what they're capable of doing things. A team with a desire for greatness, a thirst and hunger for ambition. This is how a great team and a great generation are born.

Yes. The language barrier makes adaptation quite difficult.

And regarding Momoko's case, just learning basic English was enough to help her adapt to Bayern. And you see how important is the work of the JFA Academy is. They don't just prepare footballers, they prepare people.

I think it's a matter of both the level of the league and also cultural.

The Première Ligue is no longer the best in Europe (Lyon continues to dominate, but PSG has declined). Liga F in Spain is this cultural thing I told (It's rare for Japanese players, both male and female, to do well in Spain).

04.03.2026 20:04 — 👍 1    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

Some observations

Hamano and Shimizu were not on the level of Fujino and Kitagawa.

Japan didn't manage to stretch the extremely dense defense.

Hasegawa and Tanikawa hardly interacted on the pitch.

Tanikawa and Seike scored like in their clubs, they stayed extremely calm under pressure.

Certainly, not being in the WSL, the NWSL, or some other foreign league like the Frauen-Bundesliga gives you a huge chance of not playing for the national team.

04.03.2026 19:24 — 👍 1    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

However, I'm concerned about one WSL club in particular: Arsenal. A club that has a history of having Japanese players, but hasn't had any since Iwabuchi left.

Seeing City, Chelsea, and United having Japanese players, I've seen many Arsenal fans really wanting a Japanese player.

04.03.2026 19:11 — 👍 1    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

And that's a "positive problem" @cybeam1.bsky.social.

Even in the smaller WSL teams, Japanese players are getting opportunities. Of course, there are cases like Saki, who isn't playing in the LCL, but we know that she went there because this should be the last big contract of her career.

04.03.2026 19:08 — 👍 1    🔁 0    💬 2    📌 0

The problem in WSL is that now you don't see Japanese players complaining about not having opportunities on their teams (the only possible exception would be Maika at Chelsea, but she was loaned out and is getting playing time at Tottenham).

I don't think they're stagnating in the WSL.

04.03.2026 19:00 — 👍 1    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

If they keep Martin Ho, I'm sure they will take the next step @cybeam1.bsky.social.

04.03.2026 18:35 — 👍 1    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

No. A US university for her potential will be a huge waste of time and goal. Shu Ohba can attest to that.

04.03.2026 18:32 — 👍 1    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

That would be crucial. And it also depends on which big club wants her and what philosophy she fits into.

I don't see her fitting into teams like those in the Kang conglomerate or Chelsea itself. I think she would fit better into teams like Yui's Manchester City (although they already have Oyama).

04.03.2026 18:30 — 👍 1    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

I would even accept her taking a chance playing in the NWSL, but it would have to be under very specific conditions, like Manaka (her going to a club that gives opportunities to young players like NC Courage).

04.03.2026 18:23 — 👍 1    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

I think it would be perfect for her to go to countries like Sweden or the Netherlands just like Momoko, Maika, and Koga. I don't even need to mention the impact Momoko and Maika had in Sweden, while she would fit in very well in NL as it's a country that develops a lot of midfielders.
