This winter's collection. Dedicated to Ghee Bowman, Sally Mackey and Brian Patten, each of whom passed during the making of it and each of whom left traces in the songs in one way or another.

RIP Brian

The Spotify link to my new single. Please share if you enjoy it. I'm hoping to earn enough royalties this month for a packet of guitar strings.

24.09.2025 07:44 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Sally Mackey β dear friend and colleague for 30+ years. A driving force in Drama Ed and Applied Theatre and one of the architects of Central as a modern HE drama school that trains practitioners, educators and thinkers under one roof. Iβll miss the long calls, the wine, the cookery tips. RIP.

Plus a cameo from the briefly successful author of βQuite the Mash-Upβ. Fab. Suggestion: Coe bingo cards would only enhance the delight
18.01.2025 19:12 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I was in a pretty remote part of Australia, during the UK summer, and the call was made that there would be time enough for arrangements to be made when I returned. There was nothing I could do from there and it was intended kindly. In my 25 leadership years (up until Covid ) I had maybe 3 deaths.
01.01.2025 11:45 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Maybe itβs an indicator of how things have changed, but many years ago when I was a HOD, a programme leader did unexpectedly die while I was on holiday. They didnβt interrupt me but my boss found out my flight number and called me the minute I touched down at Gatwick. Classy I thought.

07.12.2024 09:48 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Gear nerd post. Indulge me. Richard Hawley tonight with his 1959 Watkins Scout ( right) and later WEM Dominator (left). My Mersey Super 15 is the Scout in a different casing commissioned by Hessys music shop in Liverpool during Beatlemania in 1963. It didnβt take off and they reputedly only made 18.

05.12.2024 11:02 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Haunting and powerful image. With the pose she strikes and the way she disappears into the wall of shields, almost like a piece of modern dance. hope she was treated well and released.
03.12.2024 08:09 β π 17 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Tired is the wrong word. Mildly irritated that the likes of Icke and Van Hove are getting away with using them in exactly the same ways that companies like Red Shift, Shadow syndicate, and DV8 were using more cumbersome video kit in the late 80s in Edinburgh and on the small scale
Circuit.
Bono is a lot of things, but sartorially cool is not one of them. Anyway your review will ensure I now watch to doc to figure it all out, so your work, at least in my house, is done.
02.12.2024 09:10 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Just finished The Listeners on iPlayer. Remarkable. Clever nods to 70s art house movies. Rebecca Hall is outstanding. For those interested auditory hallucination, the use of sound in meditation and relaxation practices, and the often cultish association between aurality and expanded consciousness.
01.12.2024 22:16 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Just read the following in @msrachelcooke.bsky.social βs @newstatesman.com review of the Band Aid doc, which I havenβt seen, and I literally donβt know which one is which: βSimon Le Bon sits next to Bono, and itβs like the sixth form, the uncool kid laughing far too hard at the cooler kidβs jokes.βπ
01.12.2024 17:04 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Excited to be working with Brian Patten again, 25 years after our last collaboration. He was a hero of mine as a young man, and itβs a privilege to wake up to poems from him in my inbox, knowing Iβm the first person to read them. Hoping to release some of the fruits of our endeavour by Easter.
