Sorry I'm not more open-minded about LLMs, it's just some fucking maniacs shoveled out a bunch of useless bloatware featuring that technology, did not give me any chance to opt out, reorganized the entire economy around it, zeroed out gains made by green energy, and made it impossible to buy RAM

Quick reminder: the proportion of private schools which are fully funded or overfunded by the state is officially 98%. The proportion of public schools of which the same is true is 2%. This was a couple of years ago so it's definitely gotten worse.

The NT court is telling everyone you are allowed to murder Indigenous people with your car, and you don't even lose your licence.
Structural, systemic racism is at the heart of colonial institutions of power. #auspol

One of the biggest challenges of working in tech was dealing with (predominantly) men who refused to admit when they didn’t know something and now LLMs have made that SO MUCH WORSE. I respect β€œI don’t know, but here is how I would try to figure it out” far more than relentless bullshitting.

For Olivia, by Jessica Carlton Quintet 4 track album

Locking in because I have a manuscript to finish so here's the 2026 listening thread 🧡

Jessica is an incredible jazz trumpet player and this EP is lush and expansive (perfect for floating through space). 'Egerny' is my favourite track.

Again, I cannot emphasize enough: do not go to the US even if you're privileged enough to have never been scared or worried of a border crossing in you're life. Do not go ESPECIALLY for something as optional & outrageously expensive as GDC.

This is such an incredible failure. We've lost 2,100 hectares of old growth jarrah forests, home to nationally protected species, and Alcoa get a $55m slap on the wrist. They won't stop.

Would-be tenants queried on 'lifestyle' in 50-question rental applications Tenants are being forced to hand over excessive personal data when applying for rental properties, with new research warning that applicants' personal information could be at risk.

Renters in πŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ί continue to get an incredibly raw deal as this AHURI research shows.

Renters shouldn’t have to handover unnecessary amounts of personal data to companies often exempt from our (already inadequate) federal privacy laws.

National cabinet was supposed to deal with this in 2023β€¦πŸ¦—
