La conciencia política de la clase trabajadora desmovilizada se manifiesta más bajo la forma del ultraje moral y la escandalización ante la violación de ciertas contratos y promesas sociales que en una ideología política concreta.

Young men, gendered labour market competition, and opposition to gender equality policy across 27 EU countries Recent studies have shown an increasing divide in political values between young men and women, particularly regarding gender equality attitudes. In this study it is argued that this is due in part...

New publication in @wepsocial.bsky.social!

Are young men becoming more conservative?

This debate requires a) more nuance and b) theoretical explanations for often descriptive results. With Amy Alexander and Nicholas Charron, we try addressing both.

This new publication feels extra special 🤗

It started as Kathina's master thesis, won the best thesis prize and now, 3 years later, found a wonderful home in @ejpgjournal.bsky.social. ⬇️

Stickers Against Germany – the Diasporist The antideutsch leftists papering cities in pro-Israel stickers

In Germany, I developed a slight obsession with political stickers – and especially the unhinged pro-Israel stickers from the German left's creepy philosemitic neocons, the "anti-Germans" (the most German Germans). For @thediasporist.bsky.social, I wrote up some of the wildest examples

Had the pleasure of reading it just now. It was insightful, truly enjoyable, and probably very helpful for elected officials and local political organizers alike, who do read articles like these btw once they’ve been made aware of them.

I was confused by the wholesale Left rejection of "Abundance" both bc it's central to the general socialist project & bc the book itself has valuable insights.

So here finally is our sympathetic/critical review of the book & its critics (w @leighphillips.bsky.social & @fredstaffordcs.bsky.social).

Americans are relearning the lesson we learned during the Gilded Age of the late 1890s, when robber barons ran the government and the economy for their own benefit: Oligarchy is incompatible with the common good.

I'm hopeful we'll respond with a new progressive movement.

In the 19th century as the socialist movement grew in Europe, it faced a choice: whether to participate in elections. The anarchists said no. The remaining socialists waded into electoral battle. This book analyzes that decision and its consequences #booksky

Yesterday, many people pointed me to literature on the real-world consequences of classification -- which is not part of my course, but has been very interesting, as I haven't reflected too much on it structurally.

@lwestheuser.bsky.social pointed me to this classic study by Paul Starr (1992).

Dass sich Julia Klöckner die „CompuGroup Medical“ aussucht, ist kein Zufall. CGM gehört Frank Gotthardt, dem Fianzier der rechtsradikalen Hetz-Plattform „Nius“.

Julia Klöckner kuschelt also mit rechtsradikaler Gesinnung. Sie ist als Bundestagspräsidentin untragbar und schadet Deutschland.

Now in an issue @psrm.bsky.social: I show that the 🇩🇰 Social Democrats could have won policy support for a pro-immigrant platform if their messaging were framed in moral terms. Findings provide a central corrective to the popular notion that the Social Democrats were destined to go anti-immigrant 👇🏻

I also find Jenkins' "Categorization", and Rogers Brubaker's work on categories of analysis vs categories of practice very insightful.
